Memkrias stood watching and she had just had a idea to jump on Pizeera and cry out she was stuck to him like thorns when the human moved.
After untangling Ayesha the human elbowed Pizeera and Memkrias decided it would probably not be the best of times now.

Pizeera watched as the human boy came and pulled the liards fur away where it had caught, he found himself grinding his teeth, wanting to take a bite, but held his lips together until he felt himself being nudged hard.
His mouth opened at the same time as a growl let loose, and he snarled at the kid and was about to push him to the ground, when he stepped past quickly and ran and hid behind the fox.
"You better watch it boy, you're not going to have the females around all the time you guard you like a sissy."
Looking back he caught Memkria watching him.
"what !"

Memkrias was watching Pizeera thinking he really needed to relax, he just seemed to.. to.. something, she could't quite think what.
Suddenly he glanced back at her and said
"what!"
Memkrias accidently let a little speak out in surprise, then she composed herself and went up to him with a devious smile on her face and stopped in front of his face. She pouted lips and went
"mmmmmuuuuuurrr..."
like she was gonna kiss him and stopped suddenly and replied with a giggle
"nothing!!"
And she bounced forward in front of them all and started walking while wagging her rear end, trying to tease him more.

Pizeera watched closely as the female ran upto him, for a moment he thought she was going to do something really really silly, but then as he eyes squinted at her, all she did was make another of those annoying sounds.
Looking at Ayesha, he found that she was staring at them as well, and then all eyes followed Memkria as she did her fancy walk past them all.
"WHAT, it's not my fault !"

As Thomas stood beside the fox watching for any fast moves that looked like the lion was coming to have a piece of him, he moved from one foot to the other, while his hand clasped his dagger just waiting.
Tilting his head slightly, he started to frown.. the rustling and strange noise from before was approaching them again and gathering momentum, except this time the ground was actually trembling slightly.
Screaming at the others to go, he turned and grabbed the smallest one of the group, which happened to be Isha and started running past the others, again shouting at them. He wasn't going to stop, hopefully they had enough sense to hear danger was coming and take off quickly as well.
Running ahead, with the fox held against his chest, he was breathing deeply trying to catch his breath, when instead of rounding a sharp bend, he slipped in the mud, tripping over a fallen branch and found himself in the current of the river being swept downstream.

As the human and fox went flying into the river Joju suddenly started screeching and rocking the branches in the tree above them, but not in reaction to the river incident.
Behind them he had suddenly seen what was trailing them, hyenas! A large and particularly nasty looking bunch and instinctively he had gone into 'danger' alarm mode common amongst monkeys.

Memkrias stopped in her tracks, those 2 had just disappeared into the river and she'd about to ask what they were to do when suddenly the monkey started making much noise. It sent a chill down her spine, she had never heard a alarm call before but she definitely got the message gist. Something was wrong, danger perhaps and it did't sound good at all from the loud screeching from above them.

Pizeera was staring at Ayesha, when the human ran past him holding the fennec and then they were in the river.
"What crazy stupid thing is that boy doing now?"
Before he could say anything else, the monkey started yelling and carrying on, the branch he was jumping up and down on, the leaves were falling down around them all messy.
Pizeera looked up and at the same time heard the noise coming towards them.
Yelling up at the monkey "What is it, what can you see ?"

Joju tilted his head as Pizeera shouted to him, was this cat stupid, who calmly asks what can you see to a alarm call? He looked out - they were nearing in.
"Hyenas, they look like their hungry for meat"

Isha let out a small, surprised yelp when the human suddenly caught her and began to hurry away from the others. She would've asked what was going on, but the boy wouldn't have understood her anyway and so she just tried to turn her head so that she could look at him and maybe make him realize how confused she was.
Instead she ended up releasing another yelp when the boy suddenly slipped and she found herself slip away from his grasp.
Water. It was all around her then, tugging her with it as the current took hold of her small body. She had no idea which way was up and which was down, and she was already starting to panic. She hated water, feared it. It was the reason why she had left her home, why she never thought of the small fennec clan she had been part of.
And now water was holding her in its grasp again, and she felt helpless as the current tried to keep her under. As her panic grew strong enough her instincts kicked in, forcing her to try and keep her head above the surface even though she felt like she could become paralysed with fear at any moment now.

Thomas hit the water, the coldness made him gasp, his mouth snapping shut quickly as water from a wave hit him in his face, but at the same time his body twisted and he lost his grip on the small fox.
Shaking the water from his eyes, his head swivelled around until he saw her again.
Kicking out hard, he thanked the gods that he wasn't having to swim against the current, harder now he used his arms as well, finding himself getting closer to her.
He wasn't sure she would be able to hear him, let alone understand him but he screamed at her anyway.
" I'm coming... keep your head up "
His hip banged harshly against a rock stationary in the river,one he couldn't avoid, making him grunt out loud in pain, but still he kept his eyes firmly on the fox, his fingertips nearly touching her sodden fur, until at last he grabbed a handful of meshed fur and pulled the fox close, both hands gripping her and then pulled her up, wrapping her on his shoulder around his neck, pressing her down firmly.
Now with both hands free, Thomas looked around wildy searching for anything ahead or at least something that was on the side where he could manoeuvre his body to try and grab on to stop them being swept away any further from the others.

Pizeera stood there thinking for a moment, Hyenas were coming at them, and there was just him and Ayesha, he wasn't sure if Memkria was good for anything except wiggling her butt in the air, but he didn't really want to take the chance that she would get caught in the middle of it all and get killed.
"Ayesha we can't really stand and fight, we don't know how many there are and I'm not sure Memkria can fight. I'm always good for a round with those filthy beasts, but we need to turn and get out of here quick....like right now."
Raising a paw he pushed Memkria in front of him and yelled at her to run, the same with the liard, making sure he was the one the hyenas had to get to before the females.

Joju was shaking the tree top from were he was screeching
"Uglies uglies you don't eat me! I give you gas!!"

Memkrias felt herself pushed forward and shouted at to run and before much else could be said the area behind her, snarling drooling snapping hyenas appeared, a whole pack of them. Memkrias felt her stomach jump out of her body, she stared wide eyed in horror, they were much bigger than her and they were there in numbers.
She did't really think but scrambled in the direction she'd been pushed crying out in alarm.

Pulling her gaze away from the monkey up the tree screaming at them, she focused on Pizeera just as he was pushing the lioness ahead of them.
"Damn it, I hate to run from a fight.. but if we don't know how many there are, we'd better play safe I guess. Hurridly looking over his shoulder, Ayesha turned and surged forward along side the male, her claws digging into the soil giving her traction as they ran along side the river, trying not to bump into Memkria.

Memkrias hurried forward as fast as her legs would carry her bounding along the path, dirt was flicking under her paws as she ran. Vaguely she was aware that Ayesha and Pizeera were somewhere behind her as her heart pounded in her chest.
The path narrowed as she ran, flicks of long uninviting grass rasped over her side making tears come to her eyes.
All the while she could here the noise of the hyenas snarling as they ran after them and then it happened. Her foot slipped and with barely any cry she smashed head first through the blades of coarse grass, she found herself tumbling and rolling down a embankment. Everything span faster and faster as wheeled down for what seemed forever before there was a sudden sharp pain and blackness.
Memkrias laid there un-moving at the far bottom out of sight of the path, a rock next to her showed blood on it where her head had struck it.

As he ran along with the liard, Pizeera was so tempted to stop and fight, he hadn't had one in a while and was so tempted, but knew he was the only male in this group, and the other's needed protecting.
As he turned his head around from looking behind him, and all he saw was the tail end of the lioness go flying over the side of a small gully.
"Ayesha, we have to go after her, if we leave her by herself, she'll be their dinner.. come on follow me."
Pushing away the long grass, Pizeera just unleashed his claws and dug into the ground hoping he could get traction to help himself down, and not end up out cold at the bottom along with Memkria.

Even though her body was working mostly on the instinct to survive, in the far reaches of her mind Isha knew that she couldn't continue her struggle against the water much longer. Somehow she had managed to surface, but that wasn't enough and the flow would soon pull her back underwater.
It was then that she was suddenly jerked out of the water. For a moment the fox struggled, trying to free herself despite the fact that she would end up in the river again if she did so. When she finally realized that the human boy had come to her rescue, she ceased her struggles and instead clung tightly on him. She was coughing up water that she had swallowed, blinking her eyes rapidly in an attempt to get a clear view of what was going on.

Pausing for a moment, the liard watched as Pizeera disapeared over the side after Memkria.
"what is it about everyone around here, that has to fall in or over something, are they all idiots."
Hearing the hyenas coming around the bend she scrambled quickly after the lion, her paws digging into tufts of grass, slowly down her descent, hoping that the peasants would keep running past, if not, she was ready to sharpen her claws on a bit of flesh and bone.
Finally at the bottom, she came to stand beside the lion, watching as one of his paws nudged the female trying to rouse her. Moans started to fill the air and Ayesha quickly slapped her paw across Memkrias muzzle, shutting her up so the sound couldn't travel upwards alerting their presence.'
"For goodness sake you idiot, you want them down here with us, grab her other leg and help me pull her behind those bushes, then we can wait a little, hope she wakes up and then we can go find the boy and Isha."

Thomas gave a sigh of relief as he felt the fennec wrap her small body around his shoulders and head, for now she was safe, all he had to do was get them to the bank in one piece.
Slowly stroke by stroke he got closer to the side, only to find another strong wave pull him away and carry them further downstream, plus the fox was spitting out fluids that were running down his face, that weren't exactly odourless making him wipe his face to clear everything. Taking a deep breath he dove for an overhanging branch, hoping that Isha just kept on hanging on.
One hand grasped the wood, his fingers starting to slip from the slime just as his other hand took hold as well. Jiggling his body a little, one hand over the other he moved himself along the limb till finally he could pull them back up and over the grassy bank.
Landing on his knees, he rolled slowly and then tipped forward onto his stomach, as he lay there breathing heavily. Suddenly his eyes flew open... Isha !

Joju had been left behind though quite safe in the tree he was in. But it was fairly easy for him to follow as trees continued in the direction they had run off.
Hopping along the branches and leaping were needed he moved along not at all alarmed anymore. It was quite obvious that hyena's could't climb trees and it was't like he was gonna go and step on the ground while they were nearby.
He stopped after a while, the hyenas were grouped together making that disgusting noise they always made. Goodness knows what they were up to, mindless creatures probably to stupid to work out were the others had gone to though he could see quite easily from up high.
He worked his way to lower branch and decide to mock them feeling safe as he did.
"What has 4 legs, moves in packs and has less than one brain... Give up? Want clue? Its smells like a giant dung pile with fur that does't know how to grow right?"
He bobbed on the branch as they snarled up at him.
"It's you, you all have less smart than a butt"
He hung on branch with arm, leg and tail as he smacked him bum chuckling ecstatically at them. The next moment he screech as one came dangerously close to him in a jump, perhaps he was a little to low and he climbed up quickly to a safer height.
He glanced over to the others and wondered what they were doing, just leave the useless girl if she was't gonna move... He shook his head, this was why monkeys were superior to cats, they just were born brain dead, it was like they could't figure anything out.

Pizeera's head snapped up and the liard's words
"IDIOT... IDIOT, speak for yourself."
Grabbing her other front leg, he helped Ayesha pull Memkria away from from rocks and behind some bushes. About to crouch down as well he looked back to where the lioness had fallen and saw the blood drops lying around. Jumping up he ran out and threw dirt over them, masking the smell, and then covered up his tracks as best as he could and slide back in beside Ayesha, waiting to see what would happen.
"If they catch her scent and come down, we're gonna have to fight, you realise this don't you ?"

Ayesha's lips almost puckered with anger as she bent her head until her mouth was directly beside his ear, and bit him quickly and pulled back alittle, whispering.
"It wont be the smell of her blood that brings them down here, it will be you yelling for everyone in miles to hear you stupid male, now cease."
Moving her head back, she started to lick her lips softly
"oohh..the pretty boy tastes quite nice, fancy that. Not as sweet as the fox, but still"
Grinning to herself, her eyes watched the top of slope to see what would happen next.
