Just as Maji closed his blurry, teary eyes, his nose caught a scent as he sniffed. It was a lioness. Quickly, he rubbed the tears out of his eyes and carefully clambered down the little tree he was in. Soon, he was running as fast as his short little legs would cary him.
"Moma" he tried to say as he ran but it only came out as a less than audible whisper.
He weaved his way through the long grass until he found the source of the scent. It was a lioness. But it wasn't who he thought it would be. For a second, Maji froze as he realized his mistake. Soon, the tears returned as he turned around slowly and every bit of hope he had disappeared. For a moment, he glanced back at the lioness wishing that his first glance was wrong. But he kept walking back to his tree. He couldn't see very well. The tears were blurring his vision again.

As she kept walking, Naheera's tail swung back and forth, the noise back by the water was fading and the afternoon sun was making her nice and warm, time to find another place to have a rest.
A rustling in the grass made her stop and she stood there watching and waiting, her nose sniffing at the air wanting to see what the noise was that was speeding towards her, all she could see was the grass moving and parting until at last a small cub stopped and stared at her.
Naheera didn't do anything but stare straight back at him, until he turned and ran back the way he came.
"Strange, normally you don't see cubs by themselves, oh well not for me to worry about."
Shrugging lightly, she was about to move away when she could hear the thumping of paws and panting heading towards her from behind, where she had seen the strangers by the water. Lying down on the warm grass Naheera had turned herself to face the noise and relaxed herself while her claws flexed back and forth.

Sefu tried to open his other eye while the others were still in the water and the leopard ran off. It just seemed he couldn't open it for the moment, but caught his other eye at the time. It seemed someone else was watching which made Sefu a bit curious of who it was.
Sefu ignored the rest of the group and followed in the direction the other one walked off to. Going past trees and bushes, he saw a cub walking in the opposite direction. The cub looked like it had tears in it's eyes, something Sefu didn't want to deal with at the moment and just continued ahead.
It wasn't too long until he saw what he was looking for. The lioness was waiting for something seeing that she was laying on the ground staring in one direction. Lucky for him, he was to the side of the lioness where she couldn't really see him.
"Waiting for something kid?" He asked from far away to the lioness, "Or is it just fun to be staring at nothing?"

Naheera lay there waiting, it was obvious whoever was coming wasn't hunting, as they weren't too quiet about things as they moved. Her claws gently raked the dirt in front of her as her eyes moved to the left, keeping her head still in the same place, seeing something cream and brown stop.
""Waiting for something kid?....Or is it just fun to be staring at nothing?"
Pulling her claws back in,Naheera finally turned her head in his direction giving him a brief look over,noticing his shaggy brown mane and his lean appearance.
Not bothering to even stand, her tail flicked around making some dust fly around as she kept staring at him, trying to hide her smile.
" staring at nothing, hmm, I was watching you before getting a good dip in the water, lucky your friends saved your skinny butt."
Naheera finally grinned.
" You're lucky you only have the one scar on your face and not missing a leg."
Starting to look away from, she stretched out and lay back down.
"Oh, if you're looking for your kid he went running back into the long grass, you'd better hurry up with it, in case his mother comes snapping at you for being so long."

Karensha ran as low hung branches hit against her face pushing back allowing her through, as she came out into a clearing her nose twitched with new scent. There to her left was a lioness with brown fur and from what Karensha could see some sort of green marking on her back leg.
Stopping in her tracks, the thought came quickly into her mind that this cat was what perhaps Maji had seen and was running towards.. his mother. Was he going to be taken away from them already.
Blinking, Karensha looked around her, sniffing the air, her tail swinging around the hair on the purple tuft standing on air, she couldn't see the cub, and the lioness didn't seem to be in much hurry to find a lost cub.
Not bothering with her any more, her paws clenched on the ground and she pulled herself foward once more, practically running past the newcomer.
Slowing down as she walked through the long grass, her head moved from side to side looking and listening, still no Maji.
Giving in about attracting any unwanted attention, Karensha opened her muzzle and shouted.
"MAJI.... you need to come back.. come out where Karensha can see you.... MAJI "

Maji heard Karensha calling for him. He paused and then turned to walk in the direction of her voice. It wasn't as if he had anywhere else to go. He sighed and made a feeble effort at drying his eyes before he headed over to her. Once he had broken through the grass and into sight of Karensha, he sat down and looked at the ground, dragging his front paw around across the dirt.

Sefu just grinned as he started thinking how lucky he did get.
"I guess I can't really disagree with you there."
As he watched the lion lay down, Sefu moved closer to her but still kept a bit of distance between them.
"Oh, if you're looking for your kid he went running back into the long grass, you'd better hurry up with it, in case his mother comes snapping at you for being so long."
"The kid's not mine, or at least I don't think he is. Kind of hard for me to remember things right now."
He tried to think of who's kid it was and if it may have belonged to one of the others that were in the water.Everything just seemed like a blur though and it was just giving hima headache for now.
He just turned his attention back to the lioness since he just gave up on remembering.
"So if you don't mind me asking, who might you be?"

Karensha was about to shout out again for the cub, in one way wanting him to hear her but afraid that the lioness was going to appear and lay claim. ABout to move further into the grass towards a huge overhanging tree, Karensha tilted her head to one side listening carefully, and she watched the grass swaying coming towards her until at last the cub appeared and sat with his head bowed before her.
Looking over her shoulder, checking that no one was around, Karensha advanced towards him whilst chewing softly on her bottom lip.
She wasn't sure how to approach him as she didn't know why he had run away, was it that he was frightened by what had happened with the crocodile, or had he sensed that lioness was acutally his mother, or had he just wanted to get away from her as she wasn't doing a very good job of looking after him.
Stopping in front of the cub, she lowered her self down to the ground. Licking her lips, she sucked in her breath and said his name almost like a whisper.
"Maji" .. still he didn't look at her, so raising her paw she stroked under his chin, lifting his head until she could see his eyes.
Staring back at her, she took in the dirt that matted his light cream fur, and his blue eyes that still were trembling with unshed tears. Finding that she couldn't say anything herself as her own were blurring for some reason, she just reached out and enfolded his small frame in her paws and held him close to her stroking a paw up and down his spine while her cheek just nuzzled his head, knowing that he was still in one piece and safe from harm.

Naheera lay there her tail flickng around, she heard the lion denying that the cub she briefly saw wasn't his.
'oh yeah, they all say that'
Grinning to herself she just watched where he sat, at least he kept himself away a little, she wasn't up to being crowded today, as it was, she thought she had this area all to herself but other cats kept popping up from nowhere.
"So if you don't mind me asking, who might you be?"
Raising her head a little bit off the ground, the lioness stared at him a moment.
" I'm called Naheera, but don't wear it out..ok "
Stretching her body slowly, she then rolled over to her other side, so all that the lion could see was her back.
"If you're just going to stand there staring at nothing taking space, you'd better tell me who you are as well, so if the cub comes looking I can point it in your direction."
Smirking to herself Naheera waited.

Sefu had to think about and try to figure out what his name was. It was becoming an
annoyence to him that he was having suck trouble just remembering simple things. When he
did get annoyed though, he remembered what his name was.
"My name is Sefu"
Seeing there was nothing else to do, Sefu just fell straight to his back and started watching random clouds. He felt more relaxed now that he was laying down and didn't have to worry about anything.
"I hope you don't mind me relaxing here for a bit kid, but I'm a bit exhausted from whatever happened to me."

Maji tried his best not to let himself burst into tears. He was successful minus one or two tears that were dried off in Karenshas fur. When Karensha released her embrace on him, he climbed up onto her back and laid down between her shoulder blades. He laid his head down there and realized he was very tired.

"My name is Sefu, I hope you don't mind me relaxing here for a bit kid, but I'm a bit exhausted from whatever happened to me."
Naheera heard how tired he sounded and rolled back so she was now facing him, watching him as he lay there and didn't seem to be able to move.
" You are ok ? You're not going faint on me or anything, I'm really not in the mood to play nurse right now ?"
Laying there she didn't move, just watched where she could see his chest rising up and down, she didn't really want to get any closer to the lion, she'd had her fill of males for the time being, all she could see is that they were a bunch of fools and nuisances.

Karensha finally loosened her paws to let the cub step back from her a little.The fur on his face was still damp from his tears and the whites of his blue eyes were slightly red.
Before she had time to ask him why he had run away from them, he walked around and climbed up on her back and nestled in her fur, curling up silent.
Sighing because she really didn't know what to do karensha looked around her, none of the others were anywhere near, possibly they were still back at the waters edge. Her thoughts now were, should she stay here and find a place to rest or go back and see what was happening with the cheetah and lion.
Pushing her self to her paws, she decided to see if they were all safe and then get the others to come back here, they could hunt for food and then rest,as it was late afternoon already.
Moving forward the snow leopard finally stepped back out into the opening, stopping suddenly when her eyes fell on the lion Sefu, who wasn't far from the lioness she had rushed past before.
With Maji on her neck snuggled down in her soft fur, should she just walk on past pretending she didn't have the cub, or should she do the right thing, and let Maji go to his mother.
Biting down on her inner cheek, thinking 'this isn't about what I want, it's what the cub needs, and all cubs should be with family'..
Veering off her path, Karensha moved over and stood in front of the cat.
" I have your cub here... if you let him out of your sight again where he could be killed or maimed, you will find yourself missing some body parts..do you hear me !! "

Sefu let out a small laugh after saying that. Before he could say anything else though, there was the leopard standing in front of the lioness. He was curious of what was gonna happen next so he kept quiet.

He let out another laugh since the lioness was thinking was the cub was his not to long ago. It seemed like no one knew who's kid it was, but Sefu didn't feel like finding out where they were so jst kept lying down.

As she lay there in the sun waiting for the lions reply she could hear someone else coming towards where they were.
"Let's hope I don't, I would hate to see what your bedside manner is like."
Naheera gave a laugh at what Sefu had said, and was about to joke back when a snow leopard carrying a cub came to a stop in front of her and started to yell at her. Rolling over off her side Naheera pushed herself up till she was sitting facing the angry female.
" I have your cub here... if you let him out of your sight again where he could be killed or maimed, you will find yourself missing some body parts..do you hear me !! "
Grinning she looked up to where the cub was sitting in the fluffy purple fur and back down again.
"well don't know where you got that idea from, can't say I've had the pleasure of making one of them, maybe you should be standing in front of him over there and see what he has to say about it, all I know is that ain't mine."

Karensha blinked rapidly at what the female had just said.. Maji wasn't hers, but why was she out here all alone. Stepping back a couple of paces, she looked over at Sefu, back to the lioness and back to Sefu once more.
Clearing her throat, Karensha wasn't sure which one of them she should address.
" Well if Maji doesn't belong to either of you, what are you two doing here ? do you know each other, looks a bit cosy to me?"

Majis ears flicked as he slept. He awoke for only a couple seconds to hear Karensha and the lioness talking and then fell back asleep.

"Don't ask me, I'm having a bit of a memory problem right now." Sefu told the leopard, "Only thing I really remember is getting hit in the head by something in the water and you helping me."
Sefu just kept relaxing and would just let the other two talk as he was n't in much of a mood for answering questions.

Naheera looked over at the lion and then back to the snow leopard that was still standing in front of her.
"so you know this one over here do you ?, he just walked up while I was lying here enjoying the sun. It was nice and quiet for a while. Are you going to stand there all day waiting for an answer I can't give you, or are you going to go see what the others are doing.. You know the ones along with him that were having playtime with the crocs?"

Karensha was getting no sense from the female, so she moved herself over until she was right in front of Sefu. Bringing up one of her front paws she tapped him on his head surprising herself at how gentle she was considering she was frustrated about everything concerning Maji.
"what do you mean, you're having trouble remembering things ?'
Karensha was about to take her paw off his head when instead she ran it over and around his skull looking for any bumps and lumps or cuts. She could feel lumps, but wasn't sure if that was just part of the lion, but once she bought her paw away she couldn't see any blood, so placed her paw back down to the ground.
"well obviously your head has been hit once too often and now you're feeling the effects... you realise you can't go to sleep in case you stay that way, we need to keep you awake. Looks like I'll have to stay here with you till the night has passed, and see if you're ok, was hoping for some dinner later, but guess that will have to wait."
Moving back a little,Karensha lowered herself to the ground with the cub still lying in her fur, and from what she could hear, he was asleep going by the little snorts that came to her ears.
Looking over to the lioness she met her gaze and withdrew her eyes falling on Sefu who once again had his eyes closed.
Her claws unsheathed and dug into one of his sharply at the same time she raised her voice "SEFU".
