Jabari sat there with his back turned to the others and quietly watched as Karensha smiled and moved into the water with the cub perched atop, she certainly liked to keep moving and not lay idle.
About to get up and wander further along the bank, his eyes caught a ripple in the water heading in the snow leopards direction. Stopping suddenly Jabari squinted against the sun, his eyes then widening ,realising what had seen Karensh and the cub. Shouting out a warning, hoping it would reach her ears, he wasn't sure whether throwing himself in the water trying to reach the reptile would do any good.
"Am I going crazy or did I just here someone shout? I must be going crazy because it looks like Karensha isn't the only one in the water."
Jabari dragged his gaze away for a moment, looking to see who was beside him and then swung his eyes back to the scene unfolding in front of him. " How fast a swimmer are you Sefu, you think if both of us go after the crocodile it might distract it self from her and the cub ?"

Sera was startled when Jabari suddenly shouted out a warning, and she turned her attention to where the cheetah was staring. At first she didn't see anything out of ordinary, until her gaze landed on the shadowy figure swimming in the water.
Sefu was then there, wondering what was going on, as was the case with Meri, who was leaning closer to Sera in slight fear for what was going on.
"How fast a swimmer are you Sefu, you think if both of us go after the crocodile it might distract it self from her and the cub ?"
"I'll go", Sera said with determination. "I can -"
"You are foolss", Kabechet interrupted, slithering towards the water. "You are mammalss, not made for water, you will not make it to the crocodile in time."
She paused, tilting her triangular head slightly, then turned her gaze to the felines and continued speaking with a somewhat authoritative tone. "I can sswim fasster than you lot, thuss I will sslow down that reptile, until you make enough noisse sso that it comess after you insstead of Karenssha. Make ssure not to sswim too far, lesst you wissh to loosse a leg or two."
Without waiting for a reply, the snake moved into the water, her long body slithering through the water effortlessly as she headed towards the larger reptile with impressive speed.
Sera stared after the snake with lifted eyebrows, then huffed with mild annoyance. "I wish that snake was a bit more polite..."
Then she shook her head and turned to look at Sefu and Jabari. "So, who of us shall go? We don't have much time."

Maji flailed his paws around, trying to grab onto Karensha. As he tumbled around, he cought a quick glimpse of Karensha swimming through the water and just behind her, a long, dark streak. By this time, he was too far down to grab onto her. Soon, the little cub couldn't tell which way was up. Even if he did know which way to swim, it wouldn't matter. He still couldn't swim. Water forced its way through the cubs nose and mouth as his lungs scrame for air. Everything went darker and darker. The light was getting dimmer and dimmer as his muscles began to feel weaker and weaker.

Karensha was in the process of turning her upper body back towards land ahead of her, when Maji toppled over her head and down into the water. She had opened her mouth hoping to grab him in her teeth as he flew past, but she hadn't been quick enough. Taking a large gasp of air she dove under, her eyes darting in every direction trying to place the cub, he wasn't heavy enough to have gone deep fast.
Sure enough, Karensha could see small bubbles, followed by Maji and kicked harder not caring who or what was behind her anymore, all she knew was that she had to reach him and get him to the surface, get him breathing in fresh air and clear his lungs, she couldn't let anything happen to him, it would bring back to many painful memories, ones she thought she had helped bury when her and Basilisk ended the life of Naheem.
Her front paw hit the cub and then she opened her mouth and clamped around the skin on his back and just pulled him as she kicked hard moving up through the water to the surface. Her heart was beating so hard and fast she was sure it was a beacon that was allowing the crocodile behind her to fasten onto her position so much easier. Breaking the surface she didn't even bother to turn around, she just kept moving making sure the cubs face was above the water, but she couldn't see any movement from him. ' PLease let him be alright, he's innocent, please protect him'

Jabari had started towards the water when the snake spoke from beside him, startling him.
"I can sswim fasster than you lot, thuss I will sslow down that reptile, until you make enough noisse sso that it comess after you insstead of Karenssha. Make ssure not to sswim too far, lesst you wissh to loosse a leg or two."
The cheetah snarled back at the other two while this time Sera spoke.
"So, who of us shall go? We don't have much time."
Jabari's eyes flashed scorn at them. "we all go, you fools, the more commotion the better, now hurry it up."

Sefu wasn't paying attention too much attention to the others around him as he saw the cub
fall into the water. He knew that they should probably hurry or the cub is probably gonna
end up in the croc's stomach.
"Well I guess we should probably hurry up now shouldn't we," Sefu said to the other and
without waiting for a reply, just jumped into the water.
He tried to swim as fast as he could towards where the leopard was at, but knew he probably
wouldn't be too much help against a crocodile in water. Sefu was already getting a bit tired and looked back to see where the others were at.

Kabechet was more than in her own element when the water surrounded her whole body. It didn't take her long to reach the crocodile ahead of her, and she quickly went through her options. Deciding to simply swim in front of the other reptile, she dived deeper into the waters so that she could emerge in front of it when it least expected it.
Much to her surprise, the cobra saw Karensha also diving. She was puzzled for a moment, until she realized the leopard was trying to catch Maji. The snake snapped her gaze back at the crocodile, realizing how close it had gotten while Karensha had been saving the cub. Knowing full well that speed was important if the two felines were to survive, the snake followed her plan and swam in front of the crocodile, lightly touching its body with her own to gain its full attention while making sure that it would not catch her in its massive jaw.
"Well I guess we should probably hurry up now shouldn't we."
Sera nodded grimly at Sefu, then followed the lion into the water. She full well knew how dangerous this rescue mission was, and she could only hope that they all would survive it alive. Water wasn't really her element, but despite this she pushed onward towards the looming shadow underwater that still had its eyes fixed on Karensha.
"we all go, you fools, the more commotion the better, now hurry it up."
Meri flinched slightly at Jabari's words, and simply watched silently as the others began swimming. She frantically tried to figure out what to do, because going in the water after them was something she didn't want to experience.
So instead she looked around herself, trying to find something that she could use to help the others. Spotting some loose rocks nearby, she quickly headed over to them and poked them to see how heavy they were. She glanced back at the water to check where everyone were. She then did the only thing she could think of to snap the reptile's attention away from Karensha, and picked up one of the rocks and flung it towards the crocodile, hoping that the sudden splashes around it would draw its attention elsewhere.

' Keep kicking karensha, you've got Maji, you're nearly there, just a little bit more'
She wasn't even going to turn around to see where the crocodile was, all she cared about was getting her paws to touch solid ground. Again she strained against the water that was pressing so hard against her as if it was trying to push her back towards the crocodile.
Hearing a loud noise behind, she was so tempted to look back over her shoulder, but suddenly her front paws kicks kicked something solid and Karensha lurched forward, almost jumping from the water as she landed on solidness almost stumbling in her haste.
Righting herself, she placed the cub on the ground and leant her head down close, listening for any breath as she couldn't see his little chest moving at all. Water dripping from down her lilac fur splashed over his body as a tear leaked from her eye and joined them.
" you are not going to die cub... I forbid it.."
Bringing her paw up in anger she banged it down hard on his chest a couple of time.
"damn it Maji breathe for me !"

All of a sudden, Maji woke up. At first he couldn't remember where he was or what happened. He coughed and water came out his nose and mouth. Everything was blurry for a few seconds. The cub turned over onto his side as he opened his eyes wider and coughed some more. His tummy hurt from coughing so much and he could hardly breathe because there was almost no time between coughing to do so. He had a headache and his chest hurt.
He tried to stand up but he felt too weak and dizzy. His coughing finally started to die down. Sobs came between his coughs as he tried to get up.

Karensha was about to reach for him and dangle him upside down to shake him when he started coughing, sending the water out from his nose and throat. Relief flooded through her, he was going to be ok.
As Maji tried to stand to his paws, Karensha flopped down on the ground, her tummy pressed against the dirt as her paws gathered him close and she pulled him under her chin, rubbing her face against his, licking as she went.
"I'm sorry Maji...it's all my fault, I should have been more careful with you, I'm so used to just looking after myself, I didn't think."
Karensha held back a small sob, closing her eyes a shudder ran through her body.
"Maybe I should just hand you over to Jabari or Sera to look after seeing I'm not good enough to be doing this."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Jabari swam as hard as he could, surprised when the snake moved past him towards the mouth of the crocodile, quickly turning his head he could see Sefu and Sera moving closer to him, when suddenly something landed in the water to his right.
Turning, a growl left his muzzle as he opened to snap at whatever it was only to find nothing there. Surprised he look over the others in the water and saw meri throwing things, he actually smiled at the sight. Blinking he turned back and his paws raked at the crocodile, hoping it would turn its attention back to him away from Karensha and the cub.
Sefu continued to swim until he ended up close to Jabari, who had already started attacking
the crocodile. The next thing he noticed, though, was the croc's tail whipping across the
right side of his face and barely missing his eye. The force from the hit started to make him go unconsious and blood was getting the water.
Sefu reached out and grabbed the crocodile by one of it's small legs as he started to sink into the water. Not letting go of the leg and dragging it below the water with him, Sefu was hoping the others would get to shore as the blood coming from him might attract more crocs that might be in the water.
Jabari had turned his attention away from Meri and her rock throwing, glancing now at the cub and snow leopard on shore and then back to the task in hand.
Taking a large breath the cheetah pushed himself under water, swivelling his body so he had placed himself where the soft leather of the crocodiles throat was visible. His lips bared back and his jaw ready to rip, Jabari lunged at the reptile and slammed his teeth into the skin and pulled back at the same time, ripping at the skin, tearing it away to float in the water with blood surrounding them.
As he went in for the second strike, he felt something rub against one of his rear legs, his head turned fast only to see the lion holding onto the crocodiles leg and blood seeping rapidly from somewhere on his head. Raising a paw he pushed at Sefu and tilted his head forward, trying to signal for him to go ahead and get himself out of the water incase more of the reptiles smelt the blood.
Kabechet was quite pleased with herself when she managed to distract the crocodile long enough for Karensha and the cub to escape the water. She swam in front of the other reptile's face, staying just barely out of the reach of its massive jaws. She noticed how the others already reached the crocodile and began attacking it. She had to correct her initial view on this rag-tag group, for it seemed they were quite a bit braver than she had thought. She turned around to attack the crocodile, when she caught a taste in the water that made her pause.
Blood. The male lion was bleeding.
She cursed and swam back to surface, where she sought out the only feline in the water that yet hadn't made a move on the reptile. Sera vas visibly startled when the cobra suddenly appeared right in front of her eyes, but the snake ignored it.
"Get Ssefu out of the water", she hissed her command. "He bleedss., and it iss time to end thiss game."
Without waiting for a reply, the snake dived once again, slithering swiftly through the water and towards the crocodile. When she tasted the water again she caught another scent of blood in it, this time belonging to the now wounded crocodile. She swam straight to the other reptile, but instead of avoiding it she wrapped herself around its middle, making sure that it wouldn't be able to scratch her with its claws. She briefly glanced around herself, checking the position of Jabari, Sefu and Sera. She then sought out the source of the crocodile's blood in the water, wrapping herself tighter around the reptile every time it trashed around with pain from the wound.
The cobra allowed herself a small smirk, somewhat grateful that Jabari had managed to rip a part of the crocodile's skin off. Then, with a quick movement she sunk her teeth into the now exposed flesh and sealed the crocodile's fate. She could only hope now that the cats were smart enough to get away from the trashing reptile, and preferably out of the water in case more of them would come around.
Sera was startled when Kabechet suddenly appeared in front of her and hissed her command before disappearing again. The cheelion was slightly frustrated at the tone the cobra had used, but decided that such thoughts would have to wait if they all were to survive this ordeal. The snake had said that Sefu was bleeding, and if that was true then he really needed to get on the shore.
Sera swam closer to the crocodile and dived, catching sight of Sefu holding tightly on one of the crocodile's feet. Jabari was trying to motion the lion to get out of the water, but Sera wasn't sure whether or not Sefu had noticed, or if he'd even remain conscious long enough to swim to safety. She saw something long and black move in the water closer to the crocodile, and realized that Kabechet was wrapping herself around the crocodile's body.
Sera tore her attention away from the cobra and swam to Sefu. She touched his shoulder lightly, motioning for him to let go of the crocodile, while she herself took hold of him in order to help him to the surface and then to the shore. She glanced at Jabari, lifting an eyebrow at the cheetah as a silent question of whether or not he'd be able to help her out with helping Sefu.
Jabari spat the flesh out of his mouth and took a breath as he came to the surface, ready to lunge back under the water and carry on the fight his glance took in Sera who was now the closest to him. He could see what she wanted, but had the cobra got the crocodile under control enough that he could actually stop the fight and go to Sefu's aid.
Karensha had moved back away from the cub, once he had stoped coughing and was breathing on his own. She looked up and over her shoulder and saw the lion in the water, blood was swirling around him, and the cheelion was trying to reach him to move him away from the danger of the crocodile. Instinct made her jump to her paws and she hit the water diving under, her limbs were kicking hard and fast as she moved to the side of Sera and the male.
"Come on... you get one side of Sefu, while I'm on the other, grab hold of him whether he likes it or not and start paddling fast, we're close to the shore as it is."
Sera mentally cursed when Jabari hesitated to come and help her with Sefu. There was no way she'd be able to help the lion on her own. She had to try anyway, though she was already somewhat resigned to not being able to do it.
And then suddenly Karensha was there, and for the first time since she had ran into this small group she was actually glad to see her.
"Come on... you get one side of Sefu, while I'm on the other, grab hold of him whether he likes it or not and start paddling fast, we're close to the shore as it is."
The cheelion wasted no time replying as she did as Karensha told and took a firm hold of Sefu and, with Karensha's help she began to swim towards the shore, hoping that they'd get out before any more crocodiles decided to appear.
Kabechet was still holding on to the crocodile's flesh with her teeth, letting more of her venom to enter its bloodstream. It was still tossing around in pain, but the snake could tell that it wouldn't do so much longer. The larger crocodile's blood tasted bitter in her mouth, and she decided she had poisoned it enough. She pulled her head away, and glanced around to see how the cats were doing. She was mildly surprised to spot Karensha in the water, and frowned slightly in confusion when she noticed Jabari still quite near the crocodile. Why was the cheetah still there?
She blinked then, and smirked slightly to herself. Either the cat had no sense of self preservation, or he didn't trust her ability to keep the larger reptile under control. It was amusing really, that they didn't seem to remember that she was poisonous.
Which ever way it was though, she pondered it no longer as she felt the crocodile's movements grow weaker. Good, she thought to herself. The reptile would fall into paralysis soon enough, and it would pester them no longer.
Carefully, she uncoiled herself from around the larger reptile's body and swam away from it. She glanced briefly at Jabari to see what the cheetah's reaction would be, but decided that her attention was better to be in spotting the possible other crocodiles that might come here if they picked up the scent of blood. She'd amuse herself with the felines' reactions when they all were out of the water.
As soon as Maji began to breath on his own, he looked into the water and saw the blood and the others struggling to fight of the crocodiles. He couldn't tell who was winning but it didn't matter. Either way, bad things were happening. Majis heart began to race as Karensha turned to go help the others. His breathing got a little faster as his mind raced. Every thought that flew threw his mind hinted at running. Nothing good seemed to happen when he was around. The sooner he was away from them, the better.
Majis paw slipped at the first step which made his heart jump and that kicked in the last bit of adrenaline he needed to push himself into a sprint as fast as he could away from the chaos. Further and further he ran through the dense leaves until he came out the other side of the foliage to find a wide meadow. In the middle of the meadow was a hill overlooking the rest of the field. He could see the tops of the trees and even other savannas beyond the trees from the top of this hill.
The cub sat down and let out a long breath which seemed to drag tears behind it. He didn't know why. As if things weren't confusing enough, his thoughts suddenly went to his father seemingly without reason. He tried to speak the word "daddy" but the lump in his throat wouldn't allow him to. He looked down at the ground to see a tear drip from his cheek and onto the grass. Then he looked back up to see the moon just on the horizon while the sun began to go down at his back.
Maji gave little thought as to what was going to happen now. He just climbed a short, isolated tree that grew on top of the hill and let his thoughts drift between his parents and his future and back again as the day time turned to night.
Sefu was confused as to what was happening when he started to regain his consiousness. He tried to open his eyes but was only able to open his left one. All he could see for a moment was his own blood that was coming from his own head and two other felines to his side that were helping him to shore.
With his sight becoming more clear, the lion saw a snake and another feline that had just finished killing a crocodile. Finally he noticed one more thing that the other two beside him weren't able to see, another crocodile heading straight at them.
Without much time to think of what to do, Sefu shoved the other two away from him before the croc got to them. He quickly dove deeper into the water as the crocodile tried to take a bite out him. When it was right above him, he grabbed onto the soft underbelly of the croc with his claws and started to get dragged by it.
In a moment though, he felt his back drag against the ground and knew that he must have been close to the shore. He pulled the croc closer to him and bit into one of it's front legs. With that, Sefu managed to get his paws onto the ground and began to pull the reptile closer and closer to the shore. When they were both on the shore, Sefu use the leg of the crocodile he had in his mouth to get it to it's back and wasted no time to start clawing out the stomach of the thing.
Sefu didn't stop his attack on the oversized reptile until the thing completely stopped moving. After killing the Crocodile though, Sefu took a brief look at his surroundings and the rest of the group. He was confused of what was happening or where he was, and even wondering who the others that were helping him were.
One moment Karensha was ushering Sefu ashore, the next he had pushed her away and was surging ahead. Shaking her head to get her fur away from her eyes so she could see what was happening, her eyes widened when she saw the lion was attacking another crocodile, where on earth did he get the strength from, she had thought he was totally exhausted.
Looking over him, she saw Maji get to his paws and start running.
"NO... he's going to get lost, we don't know who else is here.. what's he doing the silly thing."
Bypassing the gore and blood that was now lapping up on the shore, she left Sera and Jabari to deal with whatever was now happening ,she lept from the water, hitting the soft sand and dirt, her claws digging in for traction and pulled herself forward.
Her nose was twitching as she picked up the cubs scent, and followed as quick as she could, watching all around her for any traps or knowing eyes, she needed to get to Maji and as quickly as possible.
As Maji curled up into a small ball in the tree, the tears wouldn't stop coming and trickling down his face leaving a track through his fur. He was alone again, he missed his parents, and was frightened that he would never see them again, and then those that he had been with, were fighting.. there was so much blood, and for some reason that scared him the most.
His small body started to shiver and shake as he watched the sun go down, hoping that he wouldn't be alone when the darkness surrounded him.
Jabari felt the reptile starting to slow down and die judging by the amount of muck and blood in the water surrounding them...looking around he finally realised that it was just him and the snake and she was uncoiling herself and putting distance between them.
Taking a breathe of fresh air and pushing himself towards shore, he watched as the snow leopard burst out of the water and took off running into the bushes. Too tired to worry about where she was going his glance moved onto Sera, his eyes widening slightly as he took in her stance of standing near Sefu who was lying panting on the ground, half in and half out of the water with another crocodile floating upturned in front of them.
Finally something clicked in his mind about the fight he'd just been involved with, it wasn't any of the others who had been by his side in the last moments, going for the kill, it had been kabechet the cobra, it was them working as a team, an unlikely one at that, that had finally killed the beast. Turning back to where she was still in the water, Jabari's eyes travelled over her black body, the sun making the golden stripes glint that were above the water. ' she helped us when we needed it and didn't sit back, do I trust her now or just show her some civilty and see what happens'
Turning, the cheetah's paws moved through the water paddling as quick as he could to where Sera and Sefu were, until he felt the soil beneath him and strode out of the water, shaking briskly until he stopped, another thought came into his mind.. MERI ! With a hard turn of his body, Jabari stretched up his neck and his eyes scanned opposite along the banks until his gaze met the small lioness.
Naheera lay there in the long grass watching all the action happening in the water, just when she was enjoying being all by herself, she was now being invaded by other felines. Sighing she pushed herself backwards away and was about to move off in another direction, when she glanced back looking first at the cheetah as he screamed out the word Meri and then her eyes fell on the lion who lay panting looking a bit confused.
Shrugging her shoulders, it wasn't anything to do with her, she turned and moved further towards a meadow she always loved to lie and daydream in.
