Meri didn't say anything, which Basilisk had expected, but at least he had gotten some reactions from her. He understood why Meri didn't like lions now at least.
His attention was fixed on her eye. He wondered about the story behind it and all that had happened.
"No need to worry when you're with me, Meri. I'm not rough and tough like the other lions you seem to have met. I'm a gentler sort, unless the need arises... then I can handle things pretty well."
He sat for a little longer. He wasn't used to talking to someone who didn't talk back. It was a little odd for him.
"So, what will it take to make you talk, Meri? Is there a secret word I have to say?"

Meri was suddenly aware that Basilisk stared at her blind eye. She wasn't too comfortable with that and tilted her head just enough to cover the right side of her face completely with her hair.

She half smiled at Basilisk's words. He might not be aware, but she had heard something similar before. He did seem honest enough, but for now she'd still remain wary, just in case.
"So, what will it take to make you talk, Meri? Is there a secret word I have to say?"
She lifted an eyebrow and chuckled. Secret word? She shook her head, clearly amused by his choice of words. Then she returned to watching him, a slightly amused smile tugging the corners of her mouth upwards while she wondered if he'd have more amusing things to say.

Basilisk made a bit of progress seeing as he made Meri chuckle and smile. Maybe with a little bit more encouragement she'd finally say something.
"Perhaps you'd like tag, hmm?"
He poked her on the forehead and waited to see if she'd do anything.
"You're it."

Meri blinked, confusion written all over her face. Her confusion changed into surprise when Basilisk suddenly poked her forehead.
"You're it."
She stared at him for a moment, then gave a small laugh and poked him on the chest before she pounced on her feet and ran. She was grinning slightly, glancing behind her to see if Basilisk actually wanted to play tag or if he'd been joking.

Jabari had been slowly walking back when he saw Basilisk re enter the cave. About to charge on in as well to see that the lioness hadn't been upset or scared in any way, he paused seeing the cheelion emerge and wander off a little, and then out bounded the small lioness with of all things a smile gracing her features.
Puzzled the cheetah stood still and watched, it looked like the male had won over Meri while all that he had done to look after her had gone unoticed. Turning away he walked further coming through some foliage where it scanned out overlooking the swamps and waterways.
Breathing in the early morning scents, Jabari yawned widely, shook himself and stood there taking in the beauty before him.
Crocodiles basked on the sandy banks, hippos and swamp antelopes fed on vegetation while the water grasses swayed with movement, it looked like it was going to be another warm peaceful day. In the distance he could see a pack of wild dogs hunt their breakfast , at least his stomach wasn't rumbling for now thanks to the fresh kill Sera and Basilisk had shared.
Wandering along the bank a little keeping an eye out for potential enemies, last thing he wanted to be, was in the food chain for around here.
Stopping Jabari sniffed at the air, a strange smell was making his nostrils twitch, pressing on he shouldered his way through some dense bushed, the branches pulling at his skin till he came across the source....a lion cub lay dead, it looked like it had been mauled to pieces.

"If the noissess bother you sso much, I can offer you assssisstance and ah... 'end' it... Permanently. I'm fairly ssure it would not hurt... too much."
"No thanks, I'm sure I could make the noise go silent by myself. I always wondered what snake meat tasted like."
Sefu just smiled at the snake before turning his attention back to Karensha and the cub. He wasn't much of a food expert and didn't know if he could give any advise or not.
"I think fish might be a bit easier to chew, maybe the cub would be able to eat that by himself."
Shrugging his shoulders, he still didn't know if that would help or not. He looked around a bit and didn't really see where the others were at.
"So I'm guessing the others are wandering around or are they still asleep in the cave?"

Basilisk was surprised when Meri poked him back and jumped away laughing. He hadn't expected her to actually play, or even know what tag was.
After a few moments of surprise, Basilisk jumped up as well and ran after her. He closed in on her and managed to get close enough to reach out and tag her.
"Tag!" he yelled as he tapped one of her hind legs.
Basilisk stopped quickly, turned around, and began running in the opposite direction.

Karensha kept her face covered by her fur, hiding her smile as Sefu and Kabechet exchanged pleasantries and nuzzled Maji's head, was funny to hear the lion give as good as he got, might keep the snake on her toes, so to speak.
"So I'm guessing the others are wandering around or are they still asleep in the cave?"
Karensha looked over Sefu's head towards where she knew the cave was and stared at it for a little.
"Last I saw the cheetah was already outside and.. well if you turn around now and have a look you'll see Basilisk and the lioness chasing each other. Hmm for some reason I thought she was traumatised and too scared to leave Jabari's side, fancy that. Wonder where the cheelion has got too, can't imagine her playing chasing."
With that thought in her mind karensha began to laugh.

Kabechet hissed a laugh.
"Not very pleassant", she commented. "Uss ssnakess are chewy... And the older we are, the chewier we become."
Sefu's attention then turned to Karensha and the cub, and Kabechet decided to remain silent for now and merely see what would happen.
"Wonder where the cheelion has got too, can't imagine her playing chasing."
"Indeed?" Sera said as she emerged from the bushes, heading towards the water. The way Karensha was laughing gave her the impression that the leopard thought she was incapable of having fun.
"Are there other things you can't imagine me to do, hm?" she asked again, smirking slightly.
"Who knows, I might surprise you."
With that said she crouched to drink from the water.
Meri was actually rather pleased when she noticed that Basilisk had began to chase her instead of just joking about it. This was rather fun after all. She didn't remember when the last time she had played with someone had been.
Then, to her surprise, she felt a tap on her hind leg.
"Tag!"
She skidded to a halt, turning her head just enough to see Basilisk speeding off to the opposite direction. With a quiet giggle she began to run after him. He had a head start, but she was fairly sure she'd be able to catch up if he didn't suddenly begin to run faster than he already was.

Sera had been drinking with her eyes half closed, but now she stopped and opened her eyes, staring at the water's surface. Her and Sefu fighting...? Now that was an interesting idea.
She gave one glance at the lion before she snorted, drinking down a few more gulps of water. Sefu might be a lion, and a whole lot larger than she was... But from what she had gathered, he was insanely lazy.
"Who do you think, Karensha?" she asked with a calm expression as she straightened herself, turning the gaze of her purple eyes at the leopard.

Maji was finishing off the last of the chewed meal, it was a bit tough and he was't entirely sure what was so great about it. In truth he'd of prefered to be suckling but that did't seem to be a option.

Hearing Sera snort, made karensha grin wider, wondering how far she could carry this on.
"Who do you think, Karensha?"
Looking first at Sefu and then back at the cheelion, the liard spoke slowly.
" Well, I think you both have things going for you actually. For example , you..Sera you are small yet sleek and well proportioned so you can move faster and more agile than Sefu, and.. you are cunning I think in how you would approach 'things'."
Karensha smiled at Sefu still standing there listening intently.
"And you Sefu, you always appear laid back and perhaps a slow mover, but I sense that is just an appearance you like others to think about yourself, when actually I think you are more brain than brawn and would be a very good adversary."

Basilisk looked back to see Meri chasing him down, and she was closing the distance. She could run pretty fast which he was surprised to learn.
He ran around a corner so that he was out of Meri's line of sight, and then jumped behind a bush. He would keep hidden there until Meri passed and then jump out and run the opposite direction. Well, that was the plan anyway.

Jabari looked around the where the remains of the cub lay, the only footprints he could distinguish were from large paws, nothing that looked like wild dogs or hyenas, if it had of been crocodiles there wouldn't be anything left of what he was now staring at.
Moving in closer he flinched at the smell and then got a good picture of the small face. A gasp left his mouth, if he didn't know any better he would have thought if was Maji lying there, instead of being with karensha.
Was somehow this cub related to Maji, if so why were they both abandoned. So many questions filtered through his mind lingering on the last, where was the feline that belonged to these paw prints, surely it wasn't any of those amongst them.
Jabari's ears twitched when he heard the rustle of bushes on the other side of him and let a low growl loose. His claws unsheathed and he moved quietly towards the scent his nostrils sniffing, and he lauinched himself forward, the same time he registered the scent as belonging to Basilisk. Too late .. he pulled himself back, but his back legs hit down on the lions lower back.

Sefu just sat back and watched as Karensha and Sera spoke to one another. He didn't want to bother saying anything and offending the Cheelion in some way, even though he probably didn't have to say anything to offend her. Looking over, he saw that the other lion and the lioness were playing around. It was good to see that the lioness wasn't completely traumatized and could have a bit of fun.
"I guess there would be only one way to find out who would win, but that sounds like alot of work."
Sefu said as he sat down on the ground.
"Then again, it should be more exciting than sitting around doing nothing."

Sera didn't bother to hide the smirk that spread on her lips. Karensha had been very perceptive, and she was very tempted to jump at the opportunity to see just what this lion in front of her was made of. However, she decided against it, for now. Sefu was bigger - and thus stronger - than she was... And she would need some planning in order to pin him down.
"Surely it can't be as much work as stealing another's food right under their noses", she finally told Sefu with with an innocent tone, though the smirk was still on her face.
"But then again, if you are too comfortable lazing around instead of satisfying Karensha's never-ending curiosity..."
She shrugged.
"You could always keep entertaining the snake, after all we all know how much fun she is to have around."
Kabechet blinked her eyes at Sera's words, and let out a hissing snort. However, she said nothing. If they wanted to drag her into this trivial matter, fine. But she would not move an inch or comment on any way - yet.
Meri skidded to a halt again when she realized she had lost sight of Basilisk. She turned her head around, trying to see if he had simply ran so that her only working eye wouldn't be able to spot him. But no, he was nowhere in sight.
Frowning, she flicked her ears around. If Basilisk had hidden from her, and would move, she would hear him.
Thus she was surprised when she suddenly heard a low growl from the direction of one of the bushes. She turned her head to that direction, confused at the sounds of some commotion that was going on in there. However, her being her she rather remained rooted on the spot and ready to bolt instead of gathering up enough courage to go investigate.

Basilisk sat in his spot, waiting for Meri to go by so he could jump out. It was taking longer than he thought, so he stood up to see if he could see her. As he did so, something landed on his lower back, sending him to the ground.
He quickly got up and jumped on top of what ever it was and pinned it to the ground. He took a few moments to look at it and see what it was before he killed it.
"Jabari?" he asked as he realized who it was. "What the hell are you doing?"

Meri visibly relaxed when she heard Basilisk's voice from the bushes. Obviously him and Jabari had been the source of the sounds she had heard.
Finally she allowed her curiosity to lead her to the bushes, and to her surprise she saw Basilisk pinning Jabari down to the ground. The lioness blinked, tilting her head in confusion and trying to figure out what was going on.

Karensha listened as she heard the cheelion and Sefu's replies to each other. Grining at them and keeping Maji still tucked in front of her, she voiced her thoughts once again.
" Well it looks like you two don't want to concede that the other could be better than yourself, which is fine of course, I really thought you would finally like to settle that matter of a supposid stolen meal.... but of course it's nice to see you have made up and like being around each other."
Laughing openly now, Karensha picked up the cub and placed him on her back and waded into the water, stopping when it lapped halfway up her legs.
"Maji hang on, I'm going to swim back over the other side and we can go for a walk and see what new things are coming our way today."
Pausing for a little, Karensha looked over at her father's pet, she knew she was awake taking all in.
"Kabetchet... I hope we won't be getting any visitors today ?"

"Jabari. "What the hell are you doing?"
Not bothering to explain while he was pinned Jabari used one of his back legs, hooked it around the closest of Basilisks legs to him and pushed sharply, making the lion stumble away from him. Leaping off the ground Jabari stared him down.
"Me.. what the hell am I doing...don't you mean what the hell are you doing sneaking around hiding in bushes while right behind you there's an unexplained very dead cub...who just happens to look like he could be an identical twin of Maji's ??"
