Sera watched in silence as Basilisk walked out of the cave, then moments later she heard quiet voices from outside. It didn't take long when Karensha came inside the cave. The cheelion was relieved that it was someone she knew, and she instantly relaxed. She was surprised when Karensha smiled at her, and quickly returned the smile with a faint nod as a greeting.
When Karensha was outside, Sera turned her attention to the still sleeping Meri, wondering whether or not she should wake her up.
Kabechet felt nice and warm on the stone by the waterhole. The sun was shining so nicely, warming up her black scales and making her feel refreshed and alive. Though her eyes were closed for now, her tongue was flicking in and out, signalling that she was indeed awake. She felt safe, normally creatures would avoid snakes of her size.
She smiled. Yes... Just a while longer in the sunshine was all she asked for.

"damn, do you always sneak up on people?"
Basilisk laughed slightly to himself, but he didn't reply back to her. He was too far away already and didn't want to shout and wake up anyone who was still sleeping. He would be back soon anyway.
Once he got to the water he saw that it was rather busy. He didn't like it when it was too busy, but he would survive. He found an empty spot by the water and took a quick drink. He left quickly as he was not interested in being around a big group and made his way back to the cave.

Maji, swung from side to side as he was carried by the scruff of his neck by Karensha, as they went outside.
Then he was being nuzzled on his head and he opened his eyes and looked up, it was Karensha, why was he outside? He looked at her, waiting - sure that she would say why now his eyes were open.

Seeing that the cub had finally woken up, Karensha moved and reached for a piece of meat that had been dropped on the ground by someone. Sniffing it to see if it was still ok, she then licked at it, then using her teeth ripped a small piece off and began chewing.
' I wonder how soon cubs can start to eat their own food and even if Maji isn't enjoying what I'm feeding him, can't get him any milk, so this will have to do'
Settling back with him, Karensha used her paws and pulled him in between her own, and then lowered her head a little, using her tongue pushed some puree out landing on Maji paw. "Come on Maji start eating, just like we did last time, but instead of fish, you have some nice meat to fill your tummy."
Hearing footsteps approaching Karensha looked up quickly and blushed upon seeing Basilisk, she wasn't sure how bizare she looked attempting to try and feed the cub, but this was the only way she could think of.

Maji looked at the meat gunk laying on his paw, it did't look that appealing really but Karensha seemed to be urging him to eat it. He bent his head down and took some meat up in his mouth and chewed on it in his mouth. After a while he swallowed, the fish was better he thought to himself as it went his throat.

Grinning to himself Jabari just lay there, wondering what the snow leopard was going to 'do' to him, he hadn't seen a playful side to her, but when he had peeked a look at who it was that had tried to quietly approach him, he had seen her 'look'.
As she moved in closer the cheetah breathed in slowly through his nose, as soon as she touched him, he was going to roll and pin her and then see what she would do. Nothing happened as Basilisk chose that time to come out of the cave after waking up, passing behind Karensha making her jump away from him.
"Good morning Karensha, I hope you had a good night out there in the storm with Sefu."
Laying there he watched, as without replying she darted into the cave, returning with the cub and then moved away to feed him on some leftover meat from the night before.
Rising to his paws, Jabari stretched and gave himself a quick scratch before moving down to the waterhole passing Basilisk in the process. Reaching the water he moved in till the liquid splashed over his paws and then bent quickly ducking his head under the water to refresh himself. Flicking his head back up in the air, water droplets sprayed over the ground and then once again he lowered his head, his tongue came out as he drank his fill.
Sighing with pleasure Jabari turned around and slowly made his way back to where he had left Meri and Sera, in turn seeing kabechet curled up on a rock the morning rays sweeping over her body, yet nowhere to be seen was Sefu.

As Basilisk got closer to the cave he could see that Karensha was trying to get the cub to eat some of the left over meat from last night.
"Still trying to get used to the whole "mom" thing, eh?" Basilisk said as he walked by.
He wasn't sure what to do, so he just decided he'd sit around and wait for everyone to get up.

After chewing the meat Karensha watched as the cub decided he would give it a go, cautiously she saw him lick some up and slowly mull it around in his mouth before swallowing.
"Still trying to get used to the whole "mum" thing, eh?" Karensha heard Basilisk's comment, but kept her head down keeping her feelings to her self, it wasn't her fault that she had never been around cubs before, how was she meant to know what to do, as long as Maji was eating, that's all that mattered.
Continuing on she waited till it looked like he had eaten sufficient for the day and then swept away with her paw any remaining so he wouldn't tread in it. Pushing herself up, Karensha then leant down and picked up the cub by the scruff of his neck and placed him amongst her lilac fur on her neck.
"Maji twist your paws in my fur so you don't fall off we're going for a swim, you smell a bit..well you just smell." Moving away from the cave once more, she made her way back to the water and slowly entered so that it was flowing against her sides but not over her back, and started to paddle around and then over to the other side where she was able to stand up in the shallow water with her feet getting a good grip. Reaching back for the cub she gently bought him down in front of her and ducked him in the water a few times, making sure his head wasnt submerged properly but enough to get wet and wash away dried leaves and dirt from his body and then placed him on the warm rock in front of her.
Smiling at the look on his face, she gave his nose a quick lick "there Maji, you're almost looking like new."

Sera could now hear more voices from outside, and she decided it was time to wake up Meri. Carefully she nudged the lioness, and Meri slowly stirred, blinking her eyes and yawning widely.
"Morning", the cheelion said with a faint smile. "The others are up already. Wanna join them?"
Meri blinked her eyes lazily, then nodded as she slowly rose to her feet. She streched, yawning again before she began to head out of the cave. Sera walked beside her, just in case the lioness would begin to feel as insecure as she had the previous day.
When they came outside, Sera noticed Karensha walking away with Maji. Basilisk was sitting nearby, and the cheelion grinned slightly at him. "Good morning", she greeted.
Beside her Meri was looking around, her mind seemingly still half asleep as she didn't seem to be paying much attention to anything that was going on.
Kabechet cracked open one eye when she caught Karensha's scent with her tongue. Indeed, the leopard was there, bating Maji. The cobra held back a chuckle, it seemed that the leopard hadn't noticed her precence yet. She opened both of her eyes, watching Karensha and Maji while she wondered how long it would take before the leopard - or the cub - would notice her.

Maji got carried to the river by Karansha before being unceremonally dunked in the river under the guise that he stank. After a while the dunking stopped and he looked appalled as he dripped onto the rock she'd paced him on looking like a drowned rat.
Then she licked him, as if he was't wet enough already and told him he looked like new whatever that was meant to mean. He shivered and shook the water off his body, then suddenly a noise caught his ear and he flicked his head towards the sound - it was that snake thing again.

Watching Maji, Karensha noticed straight away as he froze and his head swung around, her gaze followed the direction he took, her eyes landed on Kabechet.
The snow leopard had indeed hoped that she would have got tired of doing nothing and had moved on, but it looked like it wasn't to be, for some reason she was hanging around, Karensha just hoped it wasn't on any orders from her father, she was trying to leave that life way behind and had no intentions of revisiting her painful past.
"Enjoying yourself over there Kabechet ? not moving on by any chance to somewhere more interesting ?"

Kabechet noticed how Maji suddenly turned to look at her, freezing. She wasn't too surprised of his reaction, after all she had scared the cub the previous day. It was good that the cub was afraid though. While she might not eat him - now at least - there were others of her kind that certainly would.
"Enjoying yourself over there Kabechet ? not moving on by any chance to somewhere more interesting ?"
The snake lazily blinked her eyes, snapping out of her thoughts. "Why would I move?" she asked. "Thiss rock happenss to be rather nice and warm. After yessterday'ss sstorm thiss iss exactly where I want to be." She paused, then chuckled. "Or would you have me leave, Karenssha?"

Sefu was having a nice and relaxing until it seemed everything was starting to annoy him. The sun was shining right on him, he heard other animals splashing around in the waterhole, and the others inthe group were close by talking. He woke up relectantly and made his way to where he was hearing the rest of the group.
"Or would you have me leave, Karenssha?"
"I would prefer it if you left if it also meant I wouldn't have to listen to that annoying voice of yours." He answered to the snake even though it was the only thing he heard clearly. "Lucky snakes, don't have to worry about things being to loud since they have now ears."
Looking away from the snake, he saw that Karensha was up and it also looked like she gave the cub a bath. "The cub is looking better now, still a little too skinny though."

Basilisk sat there waiting for something to happen... anything that would give him something to do. After a few moments he saw Sera and a still half sleeping Meri walk out of the cave.
"Good morning"
"Good morning" he replied back.
He looked at the slightly drowsy Meri for a few moments and spoke again.
"Is today the day we get to hear you speak?" he asked her in a joking manner.

Karensha grinned when Sefu walked by and answered kabechet himself, instead of her having to think of something to reply, but she ducked her head down towards the cub, letting her lilac fur cover over her mouth twitching.
"The cub is looking better now, still a little too skinny though."
Shaking her head, the fur flew back while she looked at Sefu, for some reason her eyes lingered on the scar on his face, before she met his glance. "I don't know what else to feed him, there's no milk anywhere, well not that I know of , I doubt Meri or Baslisks friend are lactating."
Karensha smiled at that thought, while nuzzling Maji gently. "If you know of anything extra we can feed him, some sort of magic trick that only you know of, please feel free to speak up, this chewing of meat and spitting it out, is wearing thin."

"Is today the day we get to hear you speak?"
Meri paused mid-yawn and turned to look at Basilisk. She blinked, trying to clear her hazy mind. When she finally seemed to understand what the lion had said she seemed rather startled, and quickly used her rather customary trick and tilted her head to hide her face in her hair.
Sera chuckled. The lioness was hiding way too much, but there wasn't much she could do about that.
This startled her slightly. Since when had she began to care how others felt?
"I'll go to get a drink", she said, pushing her troubled thoughts aside. "You wanna come with me, Meri?"
Meri watched Sera behind her hair when the cheelion began to head off. Then her gaze turned on Basilisk as she pondered what to do. She didn't feel all too comfortable being left alone with the lion, but all the same she was still slightly curious of him.
Kabechet watched Karensha, waiting for the leopards reply, but it didn't come. Instead she now could taste another familiar scent in the air, and a quick glance confirmed her suspicion that Sefu had finally woken up and arrived at the waterhole.
"I would prefer it if you left if it also meant I wouldn't have to listen to that annoying voice of yours. Lucky snakes, don't have to worry about things being to loud since they have now ears."
Kabechet laughed, then replied with a quiet voice. "No, no earss... But I ssure ass hell can read your lipss, lion." She grinned widely, her fangs gleaming in the sunlight. "If the noissess bother you sso much, I can offer you assssisstance and ah... 'end' it... Permanently. I'm fairly ssure it would not hurt... too much."

Basilisk waited to see if he might get a reply from Meri, and after a few moments she just hid her face with her hair. He didn't expect she would have done any different though.
"I'll go to get a drink"
Basilisk watched Sera walk off to get a drink and noticed Meri glancing back at him as if she was trying to decide whether or not to go. Basilisk would be the only one at the cave if she left, but it didn't bother him too much. He continued to sit and waited to see what Meri would choose to do.

Meri had stopped glancing after Sera and was now staring at Basilisk. She was still hesitant of being alone with the other lion, but she wasn't really all that thirsty either... Plus for all she knew, that nasty snake might be near the waterhole, and she wasn't too fond on meeting her either.
She huffed quietly and sat down, tilting her head slightly to one side. She was still staring at Basilisk, wondering what he'd do now that she had decided to stay.

Basilisk saw that Meri had sat down and decided to stay rather than going with Sera. He sat there for a few moments pondering what to do. He didn't know if it would be any use talking to her seeing as she wouldn't say anything back, but after a few moments he though it'd be better than just sitting there in silence. Maybe if he was lucky he'd get a reply back. He walked forward and stood in front of her.
"So, Meri, why so timid and quiet? Is it something to do with what happened with your eye? Were you in a fight or something? is that why you dislike lions so much?"
Basilisk paused for a moment seeing if he got any reaction, and then spoke again.
"After some time spent with me you'll be alright in no time. I'll show you how to relax and have fun again."

Meri tensed and flattened her ears tight against her skull when Basilisk walked closer to her. She didn't move away though, merely continued staring at him.
"So, Meri, why so timid and quiet? Is it something to do with what happened with your eye? Were you in a fight or something? is that why you dislike lions so much?"
Her eyes widened slightly. She gave a small nod, but refused to open her mouth and explain her answer further.
"After some time spent with me you'll be alright in no time. I'll show you how to relax and have fun again."
She frowned slightly. Fun? When was the last time she even had had any fun?
She pushed the thought aside. Basilisk had been quite right with his questions, which also lead her to wonder why he was so much friendlier than the other lions she had ran across with. Was it just some trick, or did he perhaps really mean no harm to her?
She sighed, relaxing slightly as her expression returned to the curious one she had had before. The waterhole wasn't that far away, she could always scream if she needed help.
