Karensha closed her eyes and floated as the rain pelted her underside that was now exposed, it felt soothing and she loved the colours that she could see thru her closed eyelids, storms were her salvation and the only time she really let her defences down .
Hearing a dull noise come to her, she turned her head till one ear was out of the water and looked to her right, it seemed that Sefu hadn't taken her advice and was lying on the side just watching her.
"I'd rather stay out here than go to the cave, everyone there usually annoys me, something you haven't really done so far, I also think a majority already there don't want me in there."
Smiling to herself Karensha watched him closely when another burst of thunder came which in turn made his face seemed annoyed at the predicament he was in.
" I usually like to be alone when a storm hits...but...you're already wet, if you keep you muzzle closed and not carry on about things, why don't you join me... it might prove relaxing to your uptight state."
Grinning even more, Karensha turned and lowered her head back into the water, closing her eyes and breathed slowly.

"Though it iss late for it now, I sstill assk... May I sstay in thiss cave until the rain sstopss?"
"I was half joking," Basilisk replied, "It's not like I'd say no to anyone here."
He walked to the front of the cave and stood right at the entrance. He wasn't far enough out to get hit by the rain, but he could feel the coolness in the air from it. He turned back around and his eyes fell upon the white lioness. He didn't know her name, nor had he even heard her talk. She seemed pretty timid, and he wondered why.
"How come you don't speak?" He asked her.

Jabari had finished his meal and his stomach was feeling quite satisfied for now as he lay there listening to the light drumming of the rain as it hit the ground. Through half closed eyes he watched as Basilisk made his way to the entrance of the cave and also stood there staring out into the night, before he turned and looked past himself and the cheelion and spoke to Meri.
"How come you don't speak?"
Jabari tensed at the question, and held back a growl, the last thing he wanted was the lioness upset and afraid, she had just calmed herself down from the snakes appearance amongst them all, and now this questioning could bring about a very unpleasant night.

Sefu grinned back at Karensha when she said he could join her in the water. Even though he wasn't much for swimming, it seemed like it could be relaxing like the leopard said. After getting up, he jumped into the water trying not to cause a big splash.
When he rose to the surface, he was floating on his back like Karensha was. It seemed she was right and that his was pretty relaxing.
"I guess you were right, this is making me more relaxed."

As her head was under the water, Karensha couldnt hear or see if Sefu was taking her up on her invitation, until she felt her body swaying in the water as a wave surged against her and she realised he had indeed joined her.
Moving her head sideways as she lay there, again she smiled at the lion as he floated there, just catching his words. "I guess you were right, this is making me more relaxed."
Turning over on her stomach she started paddling around the lion slowly, watching as his body turned a little with the movements she made, when she stopped herself and trod water pushing away from him once more. Tilting herself forward she dove down and moved till she was under him and quickly ran her paw down his spine and then dodged away.
Coming up for air further away from him, karensha just moved in the water watching what Sefu was going to do, as the rain eased and stopped just leaving some lightening still flashing in the sky above them.

Meri had finished eating and was now idly licking her paws clean. She seemed to be more relaxed now than she had been so far that day. Perhaps it was because Sera was blocking the snake and cave entrance from her view.
"How come you don't speak?"
The white lioness froze on mid-lick, her gaze quickly seeing out Basilisk. She blinked, then lowered the paw she had been cleaning to the ground. She didn't seem frightened, just surprised that the lion had spoken to her.
A moment passed in silence. Meri noticed how Sera glanced at her, half expecting an answer... But the white lioness shook her head and shrugged. She placed her head on her paws, but her now slightly curious gaze remained on Basilisk.

Jabari lay there his eyes watching for Meri's response for the dredlocked haired lion, it would be nice to hear what she sounded like, he had imagined it would be a soft whispery noise.
Silence surrounded them all, it seemed like everyone was waiting to see what Meri would do or say, but there was nothing forthcoming, and she just shook her head and lay relaxing. Jabari looked at Basilisk and smirked. "Guess she doesn't feel like talking at this moment in time.. so hope patience is part of you.." Looking around , the cheetah saw that the cub had fallen asleep, he wasn't sure about the snake, but still interstingly there was no sign of Karensha and Sefu.
"Wonder if I should go see if those two are alright, or just leave them be?".

Basilisk sat and waited for an answer, but he never got one. All the lioness did was shrug and shake her head.
"Guess she doesn't feel like talking at this moment in time.. so hope patience is part of you.."
"Being patient is one of the few things I'm good at."
He turned his attention to the lioness again after replying to Jabari.
"Can I at least know your name? It would be better than calling you "White Lioness" I think."
"Wonder if I should go see if those two are alright, or just leave them be?".
"It doesn't matter to me," Basilisk replied, "But if you decide to go, then don't bring Sefu back."

"Can I at least know your name? It would be better than calling you "White Lioness" I think."
Meri blinked her eyes slowly, and smiled shyly at Basilisk. A tiny voice in her mind screamed at her not to trust this lion, but her curiosity and the calm relaxed feeling quickly pushed it aside. "Meri." No voice left her mouth, it was merely a mouthed whisper that came out when she exhaled. But it was enough to give out her name before she fell into her curiosity filled silence again and continued staring the lion.
"Wonder if I should go see if those two are alright, or just leave them be?" "It doesn't matter to me. But if you decide to go, then don't bring Sefu back."
Kabechet chuckled slightly, eyeing Basilisk curiously. "What happened to 'It'ss not like I'd ssay no to anyone here'?"
Sera snorted from the other side of the cave, giving the cobra a glare. Her tail twitched and drummed the ground in annoyance, but she kept her mouth shut for now.

Basilisk couldn't hear the lioness say anything, but she mouthed her name clearly enough for Basilisk to figure it out.
"Meri."
"Interesting name" He said.
"What happened to 'It'ss not like I'd ssay no to anyone here'?"
"Last time I checked, Sefu wasn't here."
As basilisk continued to sit there he couldn't help but notice that Meri continued staring at him. He moved his body left and right, and her eyes kept following.
"Handsome aren't I, Meri?" He asked chuckling slightly.

Sefu saw that Karensha seemed to be circling him from the corner of his eye. It made him feel like he was being hunted which wasn't really a situation he's used to. When she dove down though, he wondered what she was planning until he felt her paw go across his back which sent a small chill to go down his spine.
He looked over to see that Karensha had risen to the surface and was waiting for him to do something. Not wanting to disappoint, Sefu sank below the surface of the water slowly trying to not cause much movement in the water. When he sank low enough in the water, he swam right below the leopard and stayed there for a few seconds. He then grabbed her back legs and pulled her down with him until he dodged away. Swimming quickly to the edge, he pulled himself out of the water and waited at the end of the water for Karensha to rise back up.

Karensha paddled in the water watching and waiting, surprised when she saw him disapear below the surface. 'what on earth is he going to do, doubt he'd be a good swimmer' Peering at the water she was waiting for him to come up for air, but she couldn't see much as the lightening had stopped that was keeping the area lit up and the moon was now hidden behind the dark clouds.
Feeling her legs being grabbed, Karensha gave a start and laughed out loud. "So.. he wants to take me on does he, let's see who comes out best here." Sliding under the water, she took a large breath and relaxed herself, she loved seeing how long she could stay underneath before she ran out of air, plus it had helped her to hide from others when the necessity had arisen.
Moving around so she had changed places hoping that Sefu couldn't see her now that it had darkened over, she moved further away from where she had last seen him, and rose a little from the water bringing only one part of head out her eye scanning the side of the waterhole until she glimpsed his body, quickly she sank back down and moved in closer taking her time.
Feeling her heart beat faster as her oxygen was running out, her back paws hit the bottom getting traction, bending her legs she pushed as hard as she could launching herself from the water and went smack bang into the lion. Feeling her body land against his she started to fall, as he as well went flying backwards till she was lying prone half on and half off him. Shaking her lilac mane as water droplets flew around, she drew breathe and looked down at Sefu panting.
"Surprise ! "

"Handsome aren't I, Meri?"
The white lioness blinked, and her eyes widened when she finally understood what Basilisk had said. Quickly she shifted her gaze away, tilting her head so that her hair fell to hide her face from everyone. She hadn't meant to stare, and now she had been caught doing that.
Beside her, Sera chuckled faintly. "Well done, Mr. Charmer", she told Basilisk with an amused grin. "You certainly know how to make a girl embarrassed."

Basilisk let out a smile as Meri quickly turned away and covered her face, clearly embarrassed by what he said.
"Well done, Mr. Charmer, you certainly know how to make a girl embarrassed."
"Don't worry Meri, I was just joking."
Basilisk stood up and started walking back to the spot where he had been before.
"You'll get used to my humor soon enough."

Sefu didn't know what to expect when he didn't see the leopard come up after awhile, that was until Karensha
suddenly came out of the water and tackled Sefu. He didn't exactly know how to react to what just happened but he found it kinda funny and couldn't help but let off a small smile. Looking up, he saw that she shook somw of the water off of her and on to him.
"Surprise!"
"Well I guess you got me beat." Laying his head back to the ground, Sefu looked at the sky and saw that it had stopped raining. "Since it stopped raining, shouldn't you be checking on that cub?"

Jabari lay there watching Meri and Basilisk interact slightly, it was good that she wasn't hiding and she was feeling a bit more relaxed about them all being in the cave and surrounding her. well except for the other two.
Yawning out loud, he gave up worrying about Sefu and Karensha, no doubt they had found somewhere else dry to spend the night, they'd turn up in the morning probably, for now he was going to try and get some sleep seeing everything was all calm.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Karensha stood there panting as she pulled herself away from the lion, finding herself smile when for the first time she saw one actually grace his muzzle as well, what a surprise he turned out to be.
"Well I guess you got me beat."
"I doubt that, I think in all probability, you were either to comfortable or to lazy to move, which is fine, nights are for relaxing, and besides the day I see you move fast, I think I'll kiss your paw."
Laughing karensha stepped away from him and paused, all the days stresses about Kabechet turning up and the previous happenings with Naheem, seemed to have slipped away a little more making her not so uptight.
"Since it stopped raining, shouldn't you be checking on that cub?"
Blinking her lilac lashes slowly, a few more drips landed on her cheeks, making her shake her head from side to side. "I don't really want to sleep inside tonight, sort of spoils being out in a storm and enjoying the explosive effect, and I'm sure Maji is being taken care of by the cheetah and he has the two females to watch over him..the morning will come soon enough."
Moving past him Karensha headed towards where she knew the cave was, but quietly kept walking past, needing to find an isolated spot, to stretch out in till the sun rose for another day.
"Don't worry Meri, I was just joking. You'll get used to my humor soon enough."
Meri lifted her head slightly to glance at Basilisk from behind the curtain of hair, only to see him head back to where he had been resting previously. She blinked, then sighed before glancing at Jabari. The cheetah seemed to be making himself comfortable and preparing for sleep, and Meri thought she might as well do the same. So, she curled back to the position she had been in previously, her back turned at everyone.
Sera glanced at Meri when she felt the lioness move. It seemed that though she had turned her back at them, she didn't seem to be as tense as before. She shook her head slightly before glancing at Maji. The cub had been awfully quiet without Karensha. Unfortunately, Sera could do nothing about that. She wasn't accustomed to cubs in the first place, and she was still feeling bitter of how Karensha had treated her when she had accidentally met Maji.
With a sigh she lowered her head on her paws, staring at the ground in front of her.
As Basilisk lay there he heard some light footsteps walking by the cave. He lifted his head to see Karensha walking past the entrance, but didn't stop to come in. He put his head back down like before. If she didn't want to come in then it was her decision.
After a few more moments he heard a sigh from Sera as she lowered her head.
"Something bothering you?" he asked.
"Something bothering you?"
Sera glanced at Basilisk, then shrugged, returning to stare at the ground. "Not particularly..." She smiled, though her smile wasn't a very amused one. "Thinking back at old times, I suppose... Nothing has changed much."
Karensha found her self slowing down as she passed the cave entrance, but made herself carry on, Maji would be safe with Jabari till the morning, nothing would happen to him in a crowded cave.
Moving on she found the tracks where she had last seen the cheelion and Basilisk playing hide and seek. Grinning to herself and then correcting her thoughts..oops chasing a kill I should say, Karensha moved forward until she found a spot close to the water and lay down among the long grass, stretching out her limbs and resting her head on her front paws.
Scenes of the past few days slowly played back through her mind of Sefu and Basilisk coming to help her with Naheem and of what she had done, and then moved on to the cub so alone and unprotected, and how for some reason she had claimed him. Had she done the right thing now Kabechet had turned up, was the snake here to try and take her back to her father or was she just looking for a new adventure , while Karensha just wanted her freedom.
Sighing, she leant to one side and fell slowly to the damp grass, her head tilted looking straight ahead at the water moving around and closed her eyes.
