Karensha stood there a soggy mess, not believing her eyes, of all things she could have run into, it was...him.
"thanks for that"
As she stared not being able to talk, she felt her paw picked up and dropped to the ground. Looking first at her paw she lifted her gaze to look back at him, but all she got was the sight of his rear end moving with his tail flicking around.
obnoxious boar, last time I looked there was no one on that rock, and then all of a sudden he appears, not my fault, I should have pushed him in, probably needs a good bath.
As she gave her self one more good shake, she remembered the cub perched on her back, leaning around she picked him up with her teeth and gently placed him on the rock where Basilisk had just removed himself from.
Looking in the direction where he had moved to, Karensha spoke to Maji between clenched teeth.
"Make sure you look out for fleas and vermin before you sit down, never know where they come from these days."
Turning away she moved beside the cub and started licking at his body, removing all the excess moisture, and pressing down his fur that was beginning to stand on end.
Standing back, she grinned at the little cub and was about to lie down beside him when she sensed someone else was standing there. Raising her head she saw it was the cheelion not moving just staring.
"You got a problem ? suggest you ask him over there."
nodding in Basilisks direction.

Sera was glad she had stayed slightly further away from Basilisk when she had arrived at the water, otherwise she would have gotten her share of Karensha's shaking. She had troubles keeping her face blank, especially after she heard Basilisk's comment. The corners of her mouth kept twitching upwards, and she had to dig her claws into the soil to prevent herself from laughing out loud.
"You got a problem ? suggest you ask him over there."
Sera lifted an eyebrow at Karensha.
"Excuse me?"
All traces of her ever being amused were replaced with annoyance.
"No need to be rude. But then again, judging by how you've been acting towards me ever since we met I doubt you even know how to not be rude."
Meri didn't hear what Jabari was saying to Sefu, or if the lion was even replying. Her gaze was glued on the lion with dreadlocks on the opposite side of the water. She didn't seem to feel comfortable when there were two other lions present, even though neither of them seemed hostile.
The lioness' ears flicked and she blinked her eyes quickly. Her attention turned from the lion with dreadlocks into the leopard and... a... strange feline she hadn't noticed until now. They were discussing, and the darker furred of the two seemed annoyed at the other. Meri didn't notice it herself but she relaxed slightly and tilted her head faintly in curiosity, her ears perked up in an attempt to hear what the two were saying.

"And... what brings you here on your travels ?"
"Nothing actually," Sefu answered, "I'm just a wanderer traveling from place to place."
Looking over to where the other lion was at, Sefu saw that the leopard and cub finally came out of the water. Now only that, but the cheelion returned here and gave Sefu a nasty stare before bringing her attention to karensha. He watched as it seemed like Karensha and the cheelion were getting annoyed with each other.
"Looks like your friends over there are about to get in a fight, probably not the best idea since I thought all of you were here to rest,"
He just shrugged and said, "whatever," before turning his attention back to the scarred cheetah again.
"So who's your friend and why hasn't she said anything?"

Karensha moved forward a little so Maji was still in the sun and as well blocked from the cheelion.
"Me..rude... you come along strutting around as though you are some sort of princess, smirk always on your face as though you are better than anyone, hate to tell you sweetheart, but you aint."
Stepping back from her, Karensha looked over to where Basilisk was laying and looked away quickly, and turned her back on the cheelion, and lay down with Maji stretching her limbs against the warm rock.

Sera frowned.
"Phah, and you're deff not the one who attacked me just cos your little 'pumpkin' didn't stay with you. I'd think before acting if I was you, leopard, or are you just too dump for that?"
She glared at the leopard's back when she her back on her.
"Also... for all you know, I just as well could be a princess. What are you to judge me anyway, leopard? You know nothing of me, yet you're the one here who has the idea of being able to boss everyone around as much as you please."
She snorted.
"Tough luck, leopard, it ain't working. Only one who seems to adore you is that lil' fur ball. Whacha gonna do if its mother comes looking for it? Slit the mom's throat so that you can keep him all to yourself?"

Maji was set down on the rock. It was warm there. It felt nice. The silence minus the birds chirping and the wind in the trees was peaceful. Feeling a rough tongue on his head, he looked up to see Karensha there licking the excess water off him. Maji purred as he gave her room to clean him off. When she was done, the two of them smiled at each other. This was soon interrupted by the cheelion who seemed to always be mad. What was so bad about Karensha? He didn't really know what they were all talking about. It was obvious that they didn't like each other though.
Maji sighed. There went the peacefulness he was enjoying. It would have been nice If he could have fallen asleep in the warm sun next to Karensha. A nap sounded really good even though he just woke up not too long ago.
Standing up, the cub looked over at Karensha whos back was turned and then at the water. It was quiet under there. He thought a moment. Did he really want to go under water again? Or did he want to take a nap with Karensha. Then, he realized what he really wanted to do. Maji just wanted to be alone with Karensha.
No more interruptions.
It was the best thing he could think of at the moment. He would feel safest then. Last time he tried to go be alone with Karensha, he ran into the cheelion. He was petrified with fear at the time. He was still scared of Sera but knew Karensha wouldn't let her hurt him. Maji walked over and sat as close to Karenshas hind leg as possible being sure to stay out of sight of Sera. He waited for them to be done but his patience was wearing thin.

As Karensha turned her back on the cheelion, she flinched as the words reached her, if Maji wasn't sitting beside her, the cheelion would have a taste of what she could really do. She had been trying so hard to hold it in, she was afraid if she let go a little, she would turn into what she feared and what her father had wanted so bad.

Stopping herself, she turned to the cheelion, lowering her voice
"been there , done that, one throat just looks like another after a while."
Looking away, she moved and picked up the cub, putting him on her back and carried on towards where Basilisk lay. Slowing herself down she didn't look at him but spoke quietly as she passed.
" I apologise for disturbing your rest, last I looked there was no one in front of me before I rose from the water, it wont happen again."
Carrying on, the snow leopard found another rock in the sun. Lowering herself she reached for Maji placing him on the ground, and then lay on her side, drawing him in close again, shutting out all else.

Basilisk lay the sun as Sera and Karensha exchanged a few words.
"Let's not do this" Basilisk said to them, but they didn't hear and kept going.
He ignored most of it, but heard a few things here and there. The argument didn't last long though.
"I apologise for disturbing your rest, last I looked there was no one in front of me before I rose from the water, it wont happen again."
"You pushed me in the water yesterday and I didn't mind, so don't mind getting splashed with a bit of water today."
Basilisk continued to lay in the sun for a while, and was now just about dry. He turned and looked over at Karensha, who was now laying on her side with the cub. He had given her a few moments to calm down, and thought that it would be best to ask her about her stutter now before he forgot. He walked towards her and sat down next to her.
"I heard a little bit of your conversation before with that... theif... earlier, and heard you stutter when you told him why you are here. Is there something we should know that you're trying to keep from us?"

Sera stared after the leopard with a thoughtful expression. Her mood really seemed to swing from one to another in a blink of an eye, and right now she wasn't feeling as mad with the leopard as she had just a few seconds ago. She was still upset that Karensha was so quick to judge her, but she also couldn't shake the curious feeling that she had gotten from what the leopard had just said.
Well... Not really just the words she had spoken, but the tone as well.
The cheelion watched the leopard speak with Basilisk, and also saw how the male walked after the leopard to speak with her. She didn't really pay attention to what they were saying even though she was within hearing distance. She had fallen too deep into her own thoughts, and soon enough she turned and walked a bit away from the water. She remained at viewing range of all those present as she laid down into a shade, gazing at the others with bright, purple eyes and yet apparently not really seeing them while she thought.
"So who's your friend and why hasn't she said anything?"
Meri was startled from her silent stare at the dark, spotted feline when she heard Sefu's words. She tensed slightly again and glanced quickly up at Jabari with wide eyes. She then quickly lowered her head and let her hair fall to cover her whole face. Clearly she wasn't going to say anything to Sefu's question.

Jabari had turned his attention to the others that were mingling further over, when he heard the lion in front of him talk again.
"Looks like your friends over there are about to get in a fight, probably not the best idea since I thought all of you were here to rest,"
Gathering his thoughts the Cheetah turned his gaze back upon Sefu.
"Well as I said, we are all new to this area, so if we intend to stay here, we need to see what everyone's personalities are like and then work it out. So guess it's going to be a bit of give and take and see where it lands us all."
Watching the lion after Jabari gave him his answer, he seemed to take it on board what he had said, but just stood there considering his options. The cheetah hadn't heard or sensed Meri make any moves form behind him, so he kept the same guarding position, if she didn't want to be seen that was the way it was going to be.
So who's your friend and why hasn't she said anything?"
Jabari had started to relax, but at those words he stood straighter and his eyes narrowed at Sefu.
"She hasn't said anything, because she hasn't got anything to say.. and her name is Meri, and for now she's under my protection.. which means.. you don't go near her without my permission, and you wait till at such time she wants to come near you."
Jabari looked past him to see if anything had come of the two females 'buttingheads' for now now it seemed calm.

Lifting her head Karensha eyed him warily.
"trying to keep from you ?.. I'm sure we all have our inner demons and things about our past that we try and bury and not go on about.. but if there's anything I need to let you all know about, I'll be sure to call."
Laying her head back down, she pulled Maji in closer to her as a shiver ran down her spine, was it a sense of foreboding or was it just bad memory of things gone by.

Maji buried his face in Karenshas fur. The softness and warmth was comforting. But if someone interrupts them one more time and starts talking to Karensha, he would have to figure out how they could be alone. He just wanted time to play with her and listen to her talk to him or whatever they would do. But for now, the cub just wanted to lay there with her in this cradle of safety.
Maji nuzzled her with his head and purred as he closed his eyes.

"Alright then." He replied, with a tone that told her he was still suspicious.
He walked over to the rock where was was before and lay down. He wasn't tired enough to fall asleep, but he shut his eyes and tried to relax.

Karensha lay there trying to relax as she heard quiet purrs come from Maji, it hadn't taken much for him to nod off again, such was the life of a small cub.
As she listened she heard the paws of Basilisk walk away from her and then it seemed he had stopped and layed down, and the cheelion had given up on her as well. Letting a sigh escape through her lips, the words of Sera started replaying over in her mind.
' what if Maji's mother turns up to claim him.. he can't speak, I don't know if his parents have been killed, or if he has just wandered off by himself, am I going to loose the only thing I've stupidly allowed myself to care about ...what if I'm tracked down, I wont be able to fight and protect him at the same time'.
Pulling back from the cub gently so as not to awaken him, the snow leopard pushed herself to her paws and walked over to the edge of the rock and stared down at the water. Not seeing her image she just stood like a statue while memories of last time one of them had caught up with her flooded her senses, she could almost taste and smell the blood and flesh.
Swallowing quickly the bile that rose in her, she leaned forward and lapped at the water fast trying to rid her mouth of the taste. Straightening up once more, she looked over seeing the cheetah standing in front of the small lioness from the night before, almost guarding her as the lion that spoke to her before was now engaged in conversation with them, and then she turned more her glance moving quickly over Sera and then onto Basilisk.
Karensha just stared at him, she didn't know why he was so calm, and hadn't reteliated with her, had been a few times times she had annoyed him..and yet.
Beyond the lion she heard some sort of disturbance and her ears started twitching and her stance became frozen and without knowing it her body had leaned forward and her head tilted slightly to the side, ready and poised.

Sefu just listened to the cheetah as he seemed to get more serious when asked a question about the lioness. It seemed that he always asked the wrong thing around this group. Not wanting to start any problems, he just shrugged.
"Fine by me kid. I guess I'll just stay out of her way then."
Seeing Jabari looking past him, Sefu looked back over to where the rest of the group was at. He saw that the two females seemed to calm down and seperated to different spots. Something caught his attention though, the way the leopard was posed.

Karensha stood there silent and listening to see if more noise arose from in the distance.
' It couldn't be... I covered my tracks well, I spent days walking around in circles, up in trees waiting and then into water, they can't have found me again. These past months I've been free, why now, why...'
Taking a step back, she stopped and looked once more at Basilisk and Sera, it seemed that nothing had caught their attention, so her head swiveled back to the other three, where her eyes landed staight away on the newcomer Sefu, who in turn was watching her.
' He couldn't be a spy, the others never took in an outsider to do their dirty work, I've never come across him before, his colourings and scar stand out pretty well, maybe it's just a coincidence he's turned up the same time I'm starting to get paranoid.'
Letting her gaze drop to the cub, karensha felt torn, she needed to go see what was happening further afield, but didn't want to leave Maji by himself, he needed protection. Leaning down she picked him up by the scruff of his neck and walked over the warm rocks to where the cheetah stood with Sefu and the small lioness.
Placing Maji at Jabari's front paws, she licked the top of his head and whispered to him she would be back soon, she just had to see about something. then standing straight she met Jabari's curious gaze.
" I need to go check on something, see that everything is ok, I wont be gone long. Please take care of him till I get back, maybe the lioness you are hiding behind your back needs something to do, take her mind off her problems for a while. I'm sure when I get back there wont have been any problems."
Stepping back, she moved away quickly before she changed her mind about leaving the cub on his own and with her head down, she flicked her lilac fur tuft over her eyes and walked past the others trying not to call undue attention to herself.

Basilisk's ears started twitching as he heard something in the distance. He assumed it was nothing and just stayed as he was. He opened one eye and saw Karensha standing there, as if she were frozen.
"She must have heard the noise too." He thought to himself.
Her head turned towards him an Sera, and then she picked up the cub and walked it over to the cheetah, putting it down infront of him. Basilisk listened closely to what she said to him.
"I need to go check on something, see that everything is ok, I wont be gone long. Please take care of him till I get back, maybe the lioness you are hiding behind your back needs something to do, take her mind off her problems for a while. I'm sure when I get back there wont have been any problems."
Basilisk got up to follow her, this was bugging him now. He knew that she was keeping something from the rest of them, and he wanted to find out what it is. He followed her until the others were no longer visible, then he spoke up.
"Is there something wrong? You seem paranoid."

Jabari watched the lion in front of him, ok... he seemed laid back and relaxed, but now he realised that he had insulted him in some way, not sure what it was that he had said, he could see him retreating.
'"Fine by me kid. I guess I'll just stay out of her way then."
"If she wants to talk to you she'll do so, just give her some space for now, somehow I don't think she trusts anyone, let alone males of any species."
Looking past Sefu, he saw the snow leopard approach him carrying the cub and she then laid him down at his feet.

Maji awoke from his half asleep state when Karensha picked him up. He didn't mind it though. He was happy just to be safe. Weeks of being alone with everything trying to kill him made him cherish the safety he had with Karensha now.
Just when he was feeling the safety of being around Karensha, she set him down in front of the cheetah and walked away after telling him to watch him. Majis heart sank a little as he turned to watch the snow leopard walk away. He got up and started a quick walk towards her.

Meri's ears flicked twitched the same time when Karensha tensed. It was good that her fur was so light, for it covered quite well the fact that she went pale. She was more tense than she had been so far with this group, so much so that she didn't hear Sefu and Jabari continue to speak with each other.
It wasn't until the leopard came to them that she somewhat snapped out of her stance.
" I need to go check on something, see that everything is ok, I wont be gone long. Please take care of him till I get back, maybe the lioness you are hiding behind your back needs something to do, take her mind off her problems for a while. I'm sure when I get back there wont have been any problems."
The lioness blinked, and turned her one-eyed stare at the leopard's retreating back. Then her gaze shifted to the small cub that the leopard had left with Jabari. The spotted cat had hinted that Jabari should give her something to do, but she just stared at the small lion when he began to head after the leopard.
She blinked, then swiftly got up and gently snatched Maji with her paw, placed him back in front of Jabari. Then retreated away from him again as swiftly as she had snatched him, and she was like she hadn't touched him at all. She didn't even look at him any more, her gaze was settled to where the leopard was going, and she noticed that the lion with dreadlocks disappeared after her.
Sera was too annoyed to notice the sound that seemed to have alerted a few members of the "group". She remained completely still in the shadow where she was resting, her light purple eyes seemed to be the only part of her that caught some of the light. She stared at Karensha with a blank face when she tensed, when she dropped "her" cub with the cheetah and the two lions, and then how she left with Basilisk.
She snorted when she was sure that Karensha and Basilisk were out of hearing distance, then turned her blank stare at the cheetah and the two lions. It seemed that the cub wanted to follow Karensha, but the white lioness stopped him before he got far.
The cheelion did lift an eyebrow faintly when the lioness pretended she hadn't done anything. Strange creature... Sera shook her head and released another snort, then turned her blank stare at the tief, as she called Sefu.

As Karensha left Maji with the Cheetah and lioness, she steeled her self not to turn around when she heard the cub make to move after her, she needed him to be out of the line of fire, if anything needed to be done, she wasn't sure who or what had been making the noise, but she had to check.
With her head down lost in thought she jumped a little when a voice spoke from behind her.
'Is there something wrong? You seem paranoid'
Slowing down but not stopping she turned her head slightly so he could catch her spoken words.
" I'm not paranoid.. I'm just being careful about the situation around us, you can never be too careful about enemies you might have made along the way or..or... sometimes things from your past have a bad habit of turning up unexpectedly, better to go to the problem than the problem coming to you."
Pausing, Karensha licked her lips, she wasn't sure how much to tell this one, it might be better what he didn't know, wouldnt hurt him.
"How far are you coming, now you've had your little chat?, you can go back to the cheelion, I'm sure shes waiting impatiently for you.. I've got things to take care of."
