She has light creamy fur with a bit darker brown swirl-like stripes all over her body. On her face she has a white area that begins from her forehead and goes down to surround her muzzle. The inside of her ears is also white. Her nose is light pink, and her eyes are bright golden. On her neck she has a dark purple collar that has a silvery envelope decoration on the front.
Growing from her sides she has a pair of butterfly wings. The upper wings are greyish-blue with lighter stripe on the lower edge, and the lower wings are greyish-purple with a darker greyish-blue stripe on the lower edge. Her wings are transparent.
She is about the same size as a lion cub. Her body is much lighter than one would think at first from her size. In fact, she barely weights more than a few feathers put together, which is the main reason why her odd wings can lift her on air in the first place. This, however, causes that she isn’t physically very strong and can’t break or push things around much.
Her ears are big when compared to the rest of her body, and her eyes are too large when compared to her head. Her tail is extremely fluffy as well as very long. It’s almost twice as long as her body without the tail is. She often uses her long tail to keep herself steady when climbing, as an example, trees.
Special Abilities:
1st – She can turn un-living objects alive for short periods of time. The larger the object is, or the more objects she changes at the same time, the more she has to use energy to do this. By turning them alive, she, as an example, turns small stones into birds. She always turns them into some animal. When she loosens her control from the object she turned alive, the object will turn back to what it was before she messed with it.
2nd – She can blend herself into any plant that is the same size or larger than her. By blending, her body becomes one with the plant and she just disappears inside that specific plant, without others really seeing that she is inside. She can still use her senses while she is inside the plant. The downside is that if the plant is physically hurt, she will be hurt as well.
3rd – She can absorb light to her wings and then release this light at later times on a way she sees proper to the situation. When light is absorbed, the wings glow slightly and drop small sparkles behind her when she moves. The things she can do are to release the light slowly, when her wings emit a bright glow that lights up darkness, or she can release it fast and cause a light bolt to shoot out with a mighty flap of her wings. The light bolt can blind momentarily, or, if it has enough energy, cause burns. If she uses all the energy stored into her wings, they stop glowing and loose their colour. Should this happen she will become incapable of flight until she has absorbed light to the wings again.
4th – She can regenerate her wings. It will cause her great pain for quite some time if her wings were ever ripped off, and doing so will leave her vulnerable. She has another, fully developed set of wings under her skin, but they will not sprout out until she has gotten over the pain loosing the previous pair causes. This can take from a few days to several weeks. When the new wings have sprouted out, another set of wings will begin to develop under her skin.
Strengths:
She can take a hold of various objects very tightly, and it will be difficult to shake her off should she cling on someone.
Weaknesses:
Because of her light frame, it becomes harder for her to stay on air during strong wind.
Behaviour:
Kyrlla is a very shy creature and rather hides away from new faces instead of going to meet them directly. However, once she is comfortable with the new faces she becomes a curious, playful creature. Often she is thought to be simply a cub due to how she behaves and how tiny she is, and should someone treat her as such she will become angered.
Kyrlla is not much of a fighter, she’s too small to fight face to face with anyone. However, she is known to aid her friends with her abilities in battle should they be in need of help.
About the Species:
Catterflies are very small and rare creatures. They barely grow larger than lion cubs, and as newborns they are about the same size as an average butterfly. Their main food source are berries, fruits and roots, though they can also eat meat if need be. Still, they prefer fish and un-hatched bird eggs to any other type of meat.
Catterflies are very long aged. It is impossible to say how long exactly it is they live, for it is rare that a catterfly remembers its own age. It is even rarer for two catterflies to meet each other, which is why the amount of cubs born is too tiny to make their population larger.
To make things harder for two catterflies to meet is the fact they hibernate. It is not known why they do this even when there is a lot of food for them to eat. However, it is believed that a catterfly falls into hibernation once all the creatures it has befriended during its time awake have died. To hibernate it searches either a hidden cave or a long-lived plant (such as a tree) to merge into and by falling into hibernation it “dies” like its friends have died.
Even the catterflies themselves don’t know how long their hibernation lasts, but once they wake up they fill their belly and begin their life all over again, not remembering much from their past times awake. This belief of the reason for their hibernation has caused a belief that if a catterfly doesn’t befriend with anyone it won’t go into hibernation until it has found friends and said friends have died.
History:
Kyrlla, like so many others of her species, doesn’t remember the early years of her life. The only thing that she remembers from the time she was a cub is a pure white lioness with some teal markings. Kyrlla thinks that this lioness is the one who took care of her up to the day when the small catterfly had grown enough to go wander on her own. Kyrlla never saw this lioness again.
At times Kyrlla has flashbacks of the past times she has been awake in between the times of hibernation. In these flash backs she remembers her past friends, though she is unable to remember their names or in which order she has met them.
