Sera's ears flicked back and forth as she listened. She had waited for quite some time, and it seemed that who ever these creatures were talking to each other, they had not noticed her precence. Better to her that way, the dark brown feline decided, and finally climbed down from her catch.
Now her only problem was what to do with the gazelle. She wasn't hungry, she had had plenty to eat on the past few days even despite the fact of others often stealing her prey. She could maybe just leave the carcass there for who ever felt like eating, but that seemed like a complete waste of good food. She could also drag it away from the open and try to hide it, but chances were she would not be returning to it anytime soon, and by the time she would return, someone else surely would have eaten the thing.
She was thirsty though, that she knew for sure. And if she wasn't too badly mistaken, there was water right where the voices were coming from.
That brought the cheelion to another problem. Would she go there and expose herself while she previously had tried to hide she was there... or would she walk for who knows how long in search for another place to drink?
With a faint grin she admitted her defeat and gave in to her curiosity. She thought for a moment on how to make an entrance. She could sneak up on them, and attempt to stay hidden, and possibly make them suspicious of her. But she could also just simply walk there, have her drink, and spy on them at the same time.
Her grin widened when she chose what to do. She began to walk towards the voices, and as the voices became clearer and she began to hear what was said, her grin faded away from her lips. Deep inside she was still grinning at how exciting this all was to her, but outside she looked calm. She did wonder what all these creatures would do and say when she would appear there, and she hoped it would be worth her time to actually do this.

Majis head turned back and forth between Karensha, the male lion and the cheetah. They kept talking about a lot of things but the big lion kept trying to talk about him and also tried to talk to him. When he focused on Karensha and Basilisk too long, he felt the eyes of the cheetah on him so he turned his head to look at him. Then when he had looked at him long enough, he heard Basilisk talking and he turned his attention to him. Back and forth, his eyes went. Maji was close to Karensha but he didn't feel safe. All this tension was getting to him.
Maji got more and more nervous until he couldn't handle it any more. His instincts told him to get out of there and so he did the only thing he knew to do in situations like this. He ran. Adrenaline pumping through his small body, Maji bolted through the leaves and between rocks and under branches.
He looked back to see if anyone was following him and just as he turned his head forward, he ran into a large paw. Maji rubbed his nose with his forearm after hitting the object with his muzzle and began looking up the leg attached to the paw. Fear struck him once again as he saw purple eyes, orange fur, and a black mane. Maji didn't know what this big cats intentions were but he didn't want to stay to find out.
The little cub turned around and didn't get half a meter away when he tripped over yet another rock. He tried to get up but his paws slipped around every time so he was trying to scramble away on his belly. Tears filled his eyes and every breath was a frightful gasp as he felt a shiver up his spine. It felt as if the orange furred thing was closing in on him and was about to hurt him even though his head was turned away and he could not see it.
Feeling helpless, Maji curled into a ball, clenched all his muscles and closed his eyes tightly forcing the tears in his eyes to run down his cheeks. He covered his head with one paw and breathed heavily as he thought to himself Why didn't I stay with Karensha?

Karensha sighed to herself, blast .. he had answered her questions willingly, and now threw them back at her... should she lie in case words travelled to places she would rather they didn't, or just tell him what he wanted to know and deal with anything if it happened.
" My name is Karensha and I've been ...hmm.. wandering around here and there till I found this oasis. I thought I was alone and was just going to just stay awhile seeing there's no familiar faces."
Hoping he was satisfied with her answer, she paused and was starting to lean down to reassure Maji that all was well, when he took off running. She watched for a moment to surprised to do anything, and then fear for the little one kicked in. Pushing past the dreadlocked lion, her limbs moved fast and carefully, her muzzle closed, she didn't want to risk calling out his name in case there was anything around that was feeling 'hungry'.
Leaves pulled at her tuft, as she just pushed on through whatever was blocking her way, not realising she was leaving a small trail of purple fur attached to various foliage, all she wanted was to reach the cub and keep him safe. Moving around a boulder she took in the sight before her and it was one that didn't make her happy at all.
There was Maji rolled up into a ball, she could see his small body trembling, but that was about all, she didn't know if he was injured, or just scared, but what made a growl leave her lips and her claws flex in readyness, was what was standing there between her and the cub.
" MOVE..AWAY..FROM ..MY ..CUB.. RIGHT NOW"

" MOVE..AWAY..FROM ..MY ..CUB.. RIGHT NOW"
Sera's eyes flashed and a displeased frown came to her face when she turned to look over her shoulder at a very angry snow leopard. She hadn't done anything wrong, the cub had ran to her, and she hadn't had time to even attempt calming down the little one before this lunatic came crashing at her.
"Oh do excuse me!" she snapped back at the leopard and moved away from the cub. Her still displeased gaze was locked on the leopard. "I was doing nothing to... your cub?" She examined the lion cub closely with her gaze before turning and doing the same to Karensha. "Your... cub.... Don't make me laugh", she said quite bitterly. "That kid's not related to you, or did you miss the fact he's a full blooded lion while you are not?" She paused, and her frown deepened. "Or perhaps you are just too stupid to realize you're a leopard."

Basilisk listened as she answered her questions. He looked down at the cub and it quickly bolted away. Karensha pushed past him and ran after the cub. Basilisk was left smiling and shaking his head.
"She's quite entertaining" Basilisk thought to himself.
" MOVE..AWAY..FROM ..MY ..CUB.. RIGHT NOW"
Karensha's words halted him as he began to walk away. He thought it might be best to go back.
"I was doing nothing to... your cub?
"I got a similar greeting from her too" Basilisk stated, almost whispering, as he sat down near the two.
Basilisk was then distracted by the cub. He found it funny that he would just sit there as a defense. His attention then went back to the new one who was talking.
"Or perhaps you are just too stupid to realize you're a leopard."
"The one thing I love most about this place is its ability to bring a friendly conversation between one another." Basilisk said sarcastically.

Karensha stood there her eyes flashing warnings at the feline in front of her, she needed to reach Maji, to calm him down.. but this thing was getting on her nerves.
"Your... cub.... Don't make me laugh,That kid's not related to you, or did you miss the fact he's a full blooded lion while you are not?, Or perhaps you are just too stupid to realize you're a leopard." .
Moving a few steps closer to the upstart, Karensha stopped herself when the dreadlocked one decided to join in. great, oh great, two of them now with their little banter, just what I need, damn place was quiet before and now it's like a circus .
The snow leopard turned and glared at him "if you have nothing sensible to say, zip it up." and the turned back to the mouthy one in front of her. "and you.. I know what I am, maybe you should have a good look at yourself, aint exactly the pick of the bunch now are you."
Snorting to herself, Karensha rudely cast a look over her and moved forward, trying to get to the cub. No one could see how the look on her face changed to one of caring. Reaching the cub, she lay down beside him, and using a paw pulled him in towards her, holding him against her chest, quietly whispering , trying to calm him down.
"Maji, its me Karensha.. you're safe, it's ok.... please let me see your face, I need to see if you are alright...Maji ?"

The little cub peeked through his paw when he heard voices. He recognized one as the male with the dreadlocks. The other was a new voice that he assumed was from the one he had just run into. It was an angry sounding voice. Which made it all worse. Then he recognized Karenshas voice. She was growling. Maji wasn't sure what or who she was growling at. He thought that maybe she was growling at him because he didn't stay with her. Then he felt her lay down next to him and pull him into her chest. The cub knew then that she wasn't growling at him but instead at the one he had run into.
The next thing he heard calmed him down instantly. The comforting sound of Karenshas heartbeat once again met his ears. His own heart slowed to match the pace of Karenshas heart. Then Majis ears twitched as he heard Karenshas voice speaking softly.
"Maji, its me Karensha.. you're safe, it's ok.... please let me see your face, I need to see if you are alright...Maji ?"
Maji sniffled and then rubbed his face in Karenshas fur wiping his tears. Looking up at her still with a sad looking expression, he revealed his blue eyes once again with his head tucked between his shoulders. His eyes seemed to say 'I'm sorry'. He should have known better than to run off from the only protection he had.

"and you.. I know what I am, maybe you should have a good look at yourself, aint exactly the pick of the bunch now are you."
Sera hissed loudly when the leopard walked past her. She flattened her ears and bared her fangs. How did she dare? How did she DARE say that?!
For a moment the dark brown feline looked like she could pounce on the leopard and attempt to slash her throat open. But instead she shut her mouth and retracted her claws. "You pure bloods know nothing", she muttered bitterly, glaring daggers at the leopard. "Nothing!"
Shaking her head in both frustration and barely restrained anger, Sera watched how the leopard began to comfort the lion cub. She snorted and turned her back at the two as she walked to the water to do what she had come there for - to drink. The leopard might have adopted the little cub, but it didn't mean she'd be able to keep him alive. Even a blind warthog would have been able to see the cub was starving.

"if you have nothing sensible to say, zip it up."
"Sensible? Ha! You're one to talk. I haven't seen you do ONE sensible thing since you got here."
He watched as she went to comfort the cub and saw the new visitor walk away. He decided he'd leave too. The only reason he walked up was to make sure there was no fights on what he considered to be HIS area.
"Perhaps you should put a leash on that thing to make sure he doesn't run away again, hmm?"
He walked over to the water to get another drink. Seeing the new one there, he put a little bit of distance between them, assuming that she was still a tad angry.

"You pure bloods know nothing".. was what reached karenhsa's ears. .The only recgonition she gave that she had indeed heard was her eyes blinked a bit faster than normal, and was thankful that no one could see the look on her face. It seemed that today was a day when words tossed around took her back to another place and time.
Laying there with Maji held against her, Karensha herself breathed in and out slowly letting the tension abate within her, whilst she could feel the cub loose his trembling and his small pants had subsided as well. Feeling him move, her head tilted down so she could look at his face staring up at her, her heart skipped a beat when she saw the sadness in his eyes, all she could do was lean forward and lick at his cheek, hoping it was enough reassurance.
Karensha heard his tummy rumble, knowing the same feeling. She had never looked after anything before let alone a small cub, in fact she hardly had anyone around her, hers has been somewhat a solitary life so far. "We need to move back to where we were before, away from that female with the loose mouth, and I think I need to find us something to eat."
The snow leopard then picked up the cub by the scruff of his neck and placed him on her lower neck amongst her fur tuft, somewhere soft and where he could hang on and not fall off, and began to rise making her move away. Watching from the corner of her eye the one called Basilisk his words also came back to her. "Perhaps you should put a leash on that thing to make sure he doesn't run away again, hmm?".
Muttering under her breath as she passed by. " leash... needs a leash on that mouth of his." and then seeing him bend over to drink, a grin came over over muzzle and her paw itched to leave the ground and 'assist' him with his drink, but holding her head high she carried on walking back to where the other lion stood there watching all that had been happening it seemed .

"Perhaps you should put a leash on that thing to make sure he doesn't run away again, hmm?"
Sera chuckled amusedly and glanced at the leopard from her eye corner. The spotted feline didn't seem too pleased with the lion's remark. That was fine with her, the lunatic deserved as much.
Noticing that the black lion had now come to drink as well, Sera paused and lifted her head slightly, glancing at the male lion from her eye corner when she though he wasn't looking. She was pleased he had left a bit of space between them, and so gave her enough time to somewhat calm down from the "nice" little chat with the leopard. She took one last drink of water before she rose up completely to gaze upon the black lion more closely.
To be honest, she had no idea what to think of him. Lions generally didn't look at her very kindly, but he hadn't chased her away, yet anyway. He did have quite an amusing sense of humour, or that's what she thought anyway from the way he had spoken to the leopard. But from experience she knew all too well that even someone with humour might turn out to be something quite different they first seemed like.
Sera was already preparing to open her mouth and ask who the lion was when she had second thoughts about it. Instead she glanced at the leopard again, then shook her head. "Mind if I ask", she begun, watching the black lion with a blank face, "but how did you come across with that... daft leopard? And more so, does she have some sort of a habit to pick fights with every stranger she meets?"

Basilisk ignored the visitor drinking beside him for the most part. Once he saw that the leopard and the cub had left, he decided that he would leave too. He had stayed longer than he wanted to anyway. As he was about to walk away, the visitor spoke to him.
"Mind if I ask, but how did you come across with that... daft leopard? And more so, does she have some sort of a habit to pick fights with every stranger she meets?"
He turned to look at her, and paused for a second before answering. Once he realized that he was staring he shook his head and begun to answer.
"Well, I saw her attack a resting cheetah, and told her that there was hardly any need for that. She then went into defense mode." He paused after answering her first question to think of an answer for her second one. "I suppose she does like to pick fights. She didn't like me and she didn't like you. I blame it more on the cub though. Seems that she had just 'adopted' it I'd say, so she is very protective of it. She's an interesting character isn't she?"
He caught himself staring at her again and tried to quickly think of a question.
"so, uh.. you're a cross breed I assume?"
He smiled at bit as he realized he asked a stupid question.

Karensha picked her way carefully around various objects that were spread over the ground, till she was back where she had started from, and there waiting was that cheetah once more.
Not sure what to make of him, as he sat there just staring not saying a word, she paused, licking her lips. She had never spent much time around others, her father had made sure of that, so her social skills were somewhat lacking. .She didn't know if others were making fun of her, trying to trap her, or just being pleasant.. but whatever for now she couldn't let down her guard.
Her eyes shifted from his and her glance moved over his damaged face, feeling pity for whatever had happened to him, it seemed he had demons of his own to deal with, just like hers, yet different. 'maybe I should just say sorry for jumping on him, he could have attacked me back if he so wished, and he didn't'

Maji smiled slightly when Karensha licked his face with her rough tongue. She was like a mother to him now. Then his tummy rumbled as a reminder that he was hungry. Karensha noticed too.
"We need to move back to where we were before, away from that female with the loose mouth, and I think I need to find us something to eat."
The cub was then picked up and put on Karenshas lower neck with her soft tuft. Just then he heard the lions voice. His words hurt him. What did he do to him to deserve such words? Maji turned his head away from him and rested in Karenshas purple fur.
They came to the place they were before and Karensha stopped. Maji looked around to see what she might be looking at or looking for.

"Well, I saw her attack a resting cheetah, and told her that there was hardly any need for that. - She's an interesting character isn't she?"
"Interesting, yes..." Sera answered with a shrug. "But annoying too."
"so, uh.. you're a cross breed I assume?"
She tilted her head slightly. The fact this lion had been staring at her wasn't anything new, she was used to it. Many didn't bother to ask her about it though, and so she decided she might as well answer. "Yeah well, it's quite obvious, isn't it", she remarked. "Mom was a cheetah. Never knew my dad, he was a lion. I had suspicions, but mom never wanted to talk about it. Mom lived close a pride of lions, and I did too until I was quite rudely told to pack up and get going if I valued my 'unworthy' life at all." She shrugged. "Life's cruel. You just got to learn to live with it."
The dark furred feline paused and narrowed her eyes momentarily. "And you?" she asked. "Are you from around here?"

Basilisk listened as she answered his rather ridiculous question.
"Very interesting," he said quietly to himself, "A cheetah, and a lion. how unique."
"Technically no," Basilisk told her, speaking louder now, "I come here often, but I stay further away most of the time. I'm not much of a 'big groups' person you see. But small groups are definitely my thing... How about you, did you have to come far to find my little 'paradise'?"

Jabari stood there staring at the snow leopard, who now faced him. He almost smiled when he saw the cub settled amongst the purple fur, peeking up at him, and then his attention was diverted when she began to speak hesitantly.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
" I'm sorry for my behaviour before.. I've been trained to attack before I am attacked when things look suspicious, and now Maji is here...I....well, again I apologise."
Not knowing what else to do, Karensha moved back a few paces and lay down slowly by the water's edge, and then removed the cub off her back and placed him gently down beside her. "Maji, I have to try and find something for you to eat, there's no way I can find any milk for you,and I don't know where your real mother is, so....we will have to try different things and lets hope I don't make you ill.
Moving her head, she looked towards where the cheetah was stretched out facing her way, but staying silent, and then she leant down to Maji's ear and whispered to him. " I know this is going to look silly, but I want you to stay here and please..this time don't run away, I'm getting some food."
Rising to her paws the snow leopard moved slowly into the water, stopped for a moment, looked over her shoulder and smiled at the cub, and then turned her attention back and stared at the water, watching and waiting. Taking a breath, she let herself slide forward, hardly making a ripple upon the top and disapeared from view to the cub and cheetah. karensha held her breath waiting for the fish to come closer, unsheathing her claws as she stood patiently... at last..and she made her move. Her head come bursting up thru the water first, fish hanging from her mouth, it still flapping trying to get free as she turned and mae her way back to where the cub was waiting, spat the fish out on the ground and then she lay down facing the cub.
Tura woke with a start after another of her nightmares. She sighed then glanced to her left at Tiwaz. She licked him sheepishly then padded off in search of food and water. When she got back she noticed a new creature had appeared. Another spotted cat. Tura grimaced then went to the water's edge. Silently she lapped some water up
"How about you, did you have to come far to find my little 'paradise'?"
"Far enough that it's unlikely you know the area." Sera shrugged. "I've been travelling here and there since I left home. I don't generally get to stay at one location for long before someone takes offence on my.. presence and chases me off."
She heard splashing and her attention was drawn to the leopard. The silly cat had dived into the water. "What on earth is she doing...?" It became clear to her when the leopard emerged from the water with a fish in her mouth.
Sera shook her head. If the leopard was hungry, and if she hadn't been so rude, the dark feline could have shared her earlier catch. But since the lunatic cat had been rude, Sera was not going to share anything with her.
"So..." the half-breed turned her gaze back at the lion and tilted her head with a serious expression. "You have found a nice area to stay in for yourself... Do you mind if I stick around here for a while, or should I move on to another area right away?"
