"I shall ask her when the moment seems right, perhaps tomorrow when she is more relaxed."
"Thats probably a good idea."
"And you.. this wound you got, was it worthwhile in helping karensha?"
"She gave it to me the wound while we were on our way back, accidentally though. But to answer you question, yes. I think it was worthwhile helping her."
Basilisk sat up while he talked to Jabari, and his glance moved from person to person. When his gaze reached the snake he kept it there. He wasn't too sure about her and what her plans were, but he wanted to find out.
"We need to keep an eye on the snake."

We need to keep an eye on the snake."
Jabari moved his gaze from Basilisk over to where the cobra was coiled on the rock, it hadn't moved,even though the cheetah thought she might have gone over to where Karensha now lay.
" Indeed we do, but I somehow suspect that even Karensha doesn't know why it followed whoever it was that you, Sefu and the leopard took care of, and is now here amongst us. I'm beginning to think that this snow leopard of ours has alot more she is hiding, that she's willing any of us to see... how important is she I wonder, that she's been trailed and not let alone."

Sefu looked around and saw that the others spread apart after Karensha got done explaining who the snake was. The other lion and the cheetah seemed to be talking about what happened when they were gone and Karensha went back to looking after the cub. He didn't feel like talking to the cheelion or the lioness, so he decided to just go find a spot to himself where he could relax.
It didn't take long to find a spot that was only shouting distance from the group. Sefu just laid down on his back hoping not to be bothered, but with the leopard here it wouldn't suprise him if someone else showed up.

"Meri.. it's me Karensha.. are you ok, have you been hurt in anyway by the cobra snake..did she do something while I was away ?"
The white lioness slowly turned her gaze form the snake and stared Karensha with her only eye. She had missed most of what had been said, she hadn't really even realized Karensha was back until the leopard spoke to her. It took her a while to realize Karensha had actually asked her something, and slowly the white lioness shook her head. The cobra hadn't hurt her. She had been scared, but otherwise she was fine.
However, Meri glanced at Maji with a slight frown on her face. The snake had caught Maji so quickly, and the white lioness wasn't certain if the cub was completely all right.
"Yes Kabechet... I killed Naheem, no one else but me --"
Sera lifted an eyebrow at Karensha's words. The leopard had just killed someone, and... It was ok? She narrowed her eyes and examined the leopard closer as she walked towards Meri and the cub. No one should be so calm after just killing someone... Unless they were used to that.
The cheelion shook her head and retreated back to her previous resting place in the shadows. From there she could keep an eye on everyone without them seeing her do so. She decided she would take extra care on watching Karensha from now on, until she was certain the leopard was not a cold blooded murderer.
The cobra remained still when Karensha spoke to her, her forked tongue flicking in and out as she tasted the air. She had a feeling that Karensha wasn't telling everything, but then again she hadn't really expected that to happen. However, instead of questioning the leopard further, Kabechet turned to examine the rest of the group. The cheetah was now speaking with the lion with dreadlocks. The other male lion was moving away from the group, apparently wishing to be left alone for now. The cheelion had retreated into the shadows where she had previously been resting, and the white lioness was with the cub and Karensha.
"We need to keep an eye on the snake."
A single whispered sentence caught her attention, and she was suddenly interested of what they were talking about. Instead of showing that she had heard them though, she placed her head back down on her curled body. She appeared completely relaxed, as if she was simply enjoying the warmth the sun was giving her.

"Well I know for a fact she didn't know that the snake would show up. From what Karensha said it sounds like shes not all that important, but it would be best to keep an eye on her anyway. Karensha on the other hand is pretty important, but thats another thing you should probably ask her about instead of me."
Basilisk checked his wound again, just to make sure it wasn't bleeding still. He touched it a few times, and it seemed fine. It still hurt a bit though. As he looked back up, he saw Sera move away from the group, and he wondered where she was going. He didn't move over and follow her though, she would probably be back soon anyway.

Karensha lay there watching Meri, until she finally moved, lifted her head and one eye stared back at her, from under her hair tuft. Waiting for her to speak, she nodded her head at the lioness willing her to go on, but there was silence, all she did was glance down at the cub.
"Did Kabechet do something to Maji, is that what you're trying to tell me ?" Bringing up a paw, karensha slowly ran it over the cubs spine, feeling for any lumps and bumps, and he didn't move or shudder when she pressed slightly on him. Pushing him away from her chest, she moved him around looking for cuts or puncture marks, finding none, she breathed a sigh of relief, and gently pulled him back in between her paws. With nothing still forthcoming from Meri, Karensha turned her head and stared at where the cobra was still curled up soaking up the suns rays.
Pushing herself back from the cub, so he was closer to the lioness once again, she rose to her paws and moved, then paused when she saw Sefu lying by himself once again. She knew she had an apology to make to him, as she had annoyed him when asking about his scar. Diverting her steps she turned and walked past where the cheelion was trying to hide by the looks, giving her a stare and then turning to where Sefu was.
For some reason her footsteps slowed down the nearer she got to him, she was almost dragging her paws, she was used to being ignored, but still, took in a deep breath as she finally stopped in front of him. Sitting down on her rump she looked down on his upturned face.
" I feel I need to apologise for my rudeness earlier. I haven't found the need for niceties much in my life, so sometimes I just blurt out what's on my mind and it seems this time it annoyed you greatly... your scar... just looks intriguing, it's shape and size.. " Moving back so she wasn't looking down on him any more, she started to move and then turned back again. "Thank you also for watching my back out there, it's good to know you and Basilisk are here."

Sefu head someone coming towards his direction, but was hoping that whoever it was would just pass by. When he opened one of his eyes though, he saw that karensha was sitting above him. It seemed that she was apologizing for asking him a question earlier even though it was more rude of him to just leave. He got up when the leopard was starting to leave only to see that she turned back around to thank him.
"There's really no reason to be thanking me, I just sat and watched while you and the other lion took care of everything." Sefu said to the leopard. "And about the apology, there was nothing rude about asking about the mark on my face. Now about the mark, Lets just say it's a bad memory I wouldn't mind forgetting."
After saying that, Sefu looked around once again to see what the ohers were still doing. Nothing changed much, only the cheelion seemed to have disappeared. His gaze went over where the snake was at and wondered if she was going to taking Karensha back to her old pride. He looked back at Karensha to ask her a question.
"About the snake, should we worry about her or not seeing she is from your old pride like the other lion?"

As Karensha turned backed again to Sefu, she was surprised to see that he had risen from his resting place and was now standing closer to her, speaking about his scar. Finding her eyes drawn to the hook shape once again, she hadn't realised that she had taken a step closer to him, her head turning to the side, staring. It was only when she blinked quickly that it broke her train of thought and she caught his words.
'Lets just say it's a bad memory I wouldn't mind forgetting' Letting a small smile appear the snow leopard let some breath escape through her lips as well. "I can understand about bad memories, therefore I won't mention it again." Karensha saw that his gaze had now gone past her, so she swung around to see who it was that had caught his attention her eyes landing on Kabechet, still lying in the same spot as before, and she wouldn't be at all surprised if she was also eavesdropping on the lion and cheetah as they were in chat mode as well.
"About the snake, should we worry about her or not seeing she is from your old pride like the other lion?"
" I honestly don't know why she's here Sefu... yes she's from where I came from, I'd say she got curious and followed Naheem here, but as you saw Naheem couldn't make me go back. I'm not going anywhere near where my father is, that part of my life doesn't exist anymore... I don't want to be who I was and what I had to do. For now, the only way I'll leave here is if I think I'm putting any of you in danger."
Facing the lion once more, Karensha's eyes travelled over his cream coloured skin and back upto his dark brown mane and then to his face, willing her eyes not to stare at his scar.
" as for worrying about Kabechet.... she has always had her own agenda, sometimes she was around the pride, sometimes you didn't see her for ages... for some reason my father and Naheem just let her do her own thing. We need to make sure she's not left alone with Meri or the cub, they are the weakest amongst us...I guess we let her be until we can see what she wants.."

"Did Kabechet do something to Maji, is that what you're trying to tell me ?"
Meri was startled when she heard that question, and she gave the leopard an apologetic look. Not that the leopard would have noticed, for she was too busy examining the cub and making sure she was fine. She flattened her ears slightly as a faint feeling of guilt wrapped her. What if the snake had injured Maji, what if...
But apparently the cub was fine as Karensha soon pushed him closer to the white lioness and left. Meri blinked her eyes and stared after the leopard, turning then to gaze at the cub. Her ears flattened completely against her skull now, disappearing among her thick hair.
Maji was under her care now... Again. And last time, the cobra had come and snatched the cub. What if something happened again? What if...?
Meri shook her head and took a calming breath as she laid down at the ground as comfortably as she could. She smiled calmingly at Maji, hoping that what ever Karensha left to do, it would not take long and the leopard would return soon to look after the cub again.
Sera's eyes were half closed, so that from further away it looked like she was sleeping. However, she was watching Karensha very closely, trying to determine what the leopard's true intentions were. Half of the time she was also watching the cobra, but she concentrated more on the leopard since the snake laid motionless under the warming sun. She caught the dirty look Karensha sent her, but remained motionless, as if she hadn't even noticed.
The leopard moved out of her sight, and so the cheelion concentrated watching Meri and Maji. She could hear Sefu and Karensha speak with each other, but paid no heed to it until Sefu brought up the cause of the group's most recent distress.
"About the snake, should we worry about her or not seeing she is from your old pride like the other lion?" " I honestly don't know why she's here Sefu... -- I'd say she got curious and followed Naheem here, -- I don't want to be who I was and what I had to do. -- Kabechet.... she has always had her own agenda -- We need to make sure she's not left alone with Meri or the cub -- I guess we let her be until we can see what she wants.."
Sera turned her head slightly so that she could look at Karensha and Sefu from her eye corner. "Is that enough though?" she asked quietly so that only Karensha and Sefu would hear. "You two weren't here when she arrived. She snatched up Maji while he was snuggled up against Meri. Me and Jabari couldn't do anything but watch." She turned her gaze at the cobra, who still laid motionless on the rock. "She is fast... I don't..." She paused, hesitating momentarily, but deciding it would be best to speak her mind now that she had started. "If she wanted us dead, I don't think she could be stopped without her managing to bite us. Or am I too pessimistic, Karensha? You know what she can do, while I only know what I have seen so far."

Jabari stood there watching the lion, his gaze moving ocassionally to where the snake lay curled and not moving.
"Why is Karensha important... none of us know her, just like she doesn't know any of us and why do I have to ask her, why do you keep deflecting what I ask you ."
As the cheetah waited for Basilisk to answer, his attention moved around noticing that Meri was keeping the cub company again, while the snow leopard was talking to Sefu and Sera had joined in.
" Basilisk ? did it look to you that Karensha and Sefu knew each other before ?"

"I don't know how much Karensha would want me to say. I don't want to say too much, so if you ask her she'll tell you all that she wants to."
"Basilisk? did it look to you that Karensha and Sefu knew each other before?"
"I highly doubt it, but it's possible. Why? Do you think so?"

karensha stood there waiting for Sefu to answer her when she heard the whispered voice of the cheelion come to her.
"Is that enough though ? You two weren't here when she arrived. She snatched up Maji while he was snuggled up against Meri. Me and Jabari couldn't do anything but watch."
Anger mounted in the snow leopard, how could the snake play with such a little cub, just to get attention from everyone, something else she would have to 'speak' to Kabechet about.
"She is fast... I don't... If she wanted us dead, I don't think she could be stopped without her managing to bite us. Or am I too pessimistic, Karensha? You know what she can do, while I only know what I have seen so far."
The leopard finally looked away from the lion and turned to Sera who was partially hidden in the shadows of a bush. Sighing slightly , karensha didn't really know what to tell her. "You obviously heard what I said to Sefu just now... I don't know why she's here. And yes I have seen her crush her prey to death. and no I haven't seen her do it just for the fun, she has very powerful talents, and I'd suggest you all be careful about taking her on, you'd need more than one and even then someone would probably come off worse than her."
Looking away, Karensha made to turn and then stopped herself "Maybe you should have a vote among yourselves whether I should stay or go." Placing a paw back down, her body pulled her self forward and she made herself walk towards where Jabari and Basilisk were in conversation, and a little further away the one causing all the commotion, just after she had thought she'd found some peace at last.
Coming to a standstill in front of the males, her ears twitched at catching some words. " You want to know why I'm bringing trouble to your little piece of Paradise do you Jabari ?, was never intentional I assure you, I didn't think I would be followed from where I came, and once I took care of it, with Basilisks help I thought that would be that."
Pausing, Karensha took the time to sit on her rump and stared past Basilisk out to the water and then repeated more or less what she had already told the lion, but not expanding any further about her previous life. " I suggested to Sefu and Sera, seeing she had some qualms about the snake, to take a vote amongst you all, to see whether I am welcome here any more, I can understand if you would rather I continue." Nodding at the cheetah, Karensha walked around him and leant down at the back of Basilisk examining his wound she had inflicted upon him. Her tongue clicked on her teeth as she saw he had pulled away her covering still leaving small pieces embedded.
"You realise Basilisk, you still have some of my hair stuck in the wound, if you had of waited and had some patience, I would have removed it all my way." Moving back she ignored Jabari and prodded him with a paw. "You need to get up and follow me into the water.. I promise I wont drown you, from what I can remember I owe you one."

"You want to know why I'm bringing trouble to your little piece of Paradise do you Jabari ?, was never intentional I assure you, I didn't think I would be followed from where I came, and once I took care of it, with Basilisks help I thought that would be that."
Basilisk didn't realize that Karensha had approached them, and surprised him a bit when she spoke.
"Well, theres your answer" He said to Jabari.
Basilisk sat there staring off into the distance as Karensha told Jabari pretty much what she had told him. He didn't look at anything in particular, he just moved his eyes around the area.
"I suggested to Sefu and Sera, seeing she had some qualms about the snake, to take a vote amongst you all, to see whether I am welcome here anymore, I can understand if you would rather I continue."
Basilisk looked over at Sefu and Sera. It didn't seem like everyone was as okay with the danger like he was.
"Alright. We'll all talk later."
"You realize Basilisk, you still have some of my hair stuck in the wound, if you had of waited and had some patience, I would have removed it all my way."
Basilisk looked down at his wound. She was right, there was still some hair where the ball had been. It seems he hadn't done a good enough job with cleaning it out.
"You need to get up and follow me into the water.. I promise I wont drown you, from what I can remember I owe you one."
"Okay," Basilisk replied getting up off his rump.
He looked up into the sky again. It seemed that those storm clouds he saw before were getting closer.
"Looks like we'll have that rain sooner than I expected."

Jabari didn't care that the snow leopard had overheard himself and Basilisk talk, if the snake was out to maim anyone, he would have no hesitation in telling Karensha to move off and take it with her, that is if the snake was still in one piece, there was Meri and the orphaned cub to look out for now. As he stood there listening to her explain about her past, again he was thoughtful about how she didn't seem to be filling in all the pieces, just a carefully rehersed speech on her behalf. "Thankyou for explaining..partly anyway Karensha, I'm sure if you stay with us, gradually the whole truth might come from you sooner or later."
Jabari watched as she gave him a 'look' and then walked around him basically ignoring him and started to tend to Basilisk's wound. Getting the hint he turned and walked over to where Sefu and Sera were laying.. it was time to see if they were prepared to have the snow leopard and now the snake among them.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Karensha breathed a sigh of relief when the cheetah didn't question her anymore, she had told them all the truth, none of it was lies, it just wasn't any of their business the rest of it, they were all still strangers to her and until she knew she could trust them more than she did now, it was staying with her only.
Stepping around Jabari, she let her fur tuft fall down on her face, so he couldn't see her expression and moved over to Basilisk, carrying on more than she should about the wound, hoping the cheetah would get the hint and move away. Bending her head she looked more closely at his thigh, seeing a slight tinge of red in one corner, she'd better take care of that quick, before infection could take hold. Moving down into the water, it lapping against her legs, she watched as the lion got to his paws , started following her, and then he looked up skywards
"Looks like we'll have that rain sooner than I expected."
Karensha glanced up as well, a smile covering her muzzle as she let slip " Yes.. one of my favourite things !" then quickly lowered her head, in case she was thought strange, hopefully she could slip away for alittle when the storm arrived. Turning her attention back to Basilisk, she waited till he was in front of her and then got him to lie down letting the water wash over his thigh. "I'm sorry if this hurts you, but you took it out before I could show you the easier way". Bringing up a paw she wiped her fur back off her face, her wet paw making it stick to her head and not distract her. Lying down close to him, karensha then opened her mouth and started licking at what she thought was the spot that was more red than the other parts of the wound, using the tip of her tongue to press hard, dislodging the last remnants of her fur. Bringing her head away she spat out onto the water, and repeated it once again, satisfied she couldnt feel anything left behind, and then asked him to stand up. Gently now she licked all around the gash and stepped back.
Looking up at him, she gave a small smile. "there that should do you, I'll have another look later just to double check... I made it, so I'll look after it, till I know nothing will go wrong, just leave it alone for me."
Sefu let out a sigh when Karensha stormed off to the other two males in the group. He didn't want to get himself into all the problems that this group seemed to have, so decided not to follow her to where Jabari and Basilisk were at. Looking over to where the cheelion was at.
"Why does it seem like the both of you will never get along?"
Right when Sefu said that, he saw at the corner of his eye that the cheetah was coming to his direction. Looking past Jabari, it seemed that Karensha and Basilisk went into the water to do something. He didn't know why Jabari came over to where he was at, but guessed it was about Karensha or the snake.
"I'm sorry if this hurts you, but you took it out before I could show you the easier way".
"I didn't think that pulling out hair was going to be such a complicated task."
Basilisk winced a bit as Karensha licked at his wound. The sooner she was finished, the better. After a while Karensha asked him to stand up, so he did. Then she licked around his wound and checked to see that there was nothing left behind.
"there that should do you, I'll have another look later just to double check... I made it, so I'll look after it, till I know nothing will go wrong, just leave it alone for me."
"Alright," Basilisk replied.
After a bit of a pause, Basilisk spoke up again.
"If the group decides that they don't want you to stay, I'm going to go with you."
Without waiting for a reply, Basilisk started making his way towards Sefu, Sera, and Jabari.
Karensha stood there satisfied she had cleaned it as best as she could, just needed to watch him a little and see he didn't go rolling in the dirt or anything like it, picking up unecessary germs. Looking up at him, she could hear him swallow and then he pasued as if he had something to say, but wasn't sure about saying it. Smiling a little she thought he was about to thankher for looking after him, but was surprised when something totally different came from him.
"If the group decides that they don't want you to stay, I'm going to go with you."
With the smile dropping from her face, she was about to reply, but he didn't give her any chance before he quickly turned and went walking briskly to where Jabari had also stopped..in front of Sera and Sefu. Karensha stood there staring at them all, her head dropping slightly, turned and walked over to where Kabechet lay, where she was sure she was taking it all in, paused in front of her glaring. "damn you, you just couldn't leave well alone could you." Clamping her lips shut, she moved away from them all finding a quiet corner to lay her body down, and stared up at the darkening sky, wishing the heavens would open up, and bring its magic to her, easing her mood.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Standing tall in front of the cheelion and lion, Jabari didn't beat around the bush. Before he couldn't have cared less what happened or what was done, but now things had changed for him, there weren't going to be innocent casualties ,especially here where this hideaway should be providing calmness and rejuvenation to some.
"I want both of your opinions as to what should be done ? are you willing to have karensha stay, now that snake has manoeuvred itself amongst us.. are you willing to risk those weaker than oursleves.. and most of all, do you trust the snow leopard?"

Basilisk continued walking and heard nothing from Karensha. He figured he might hear from her later, but he wasn't sure. As he got closer to Sera, Sefu, and Jabari, it looked like Jabari was ready to talk.
"I want both of your opinions as to what should be done ? are you willing to have karensha stay, now that snake has manoeuvred itself amongst us.. are you willing to risk those weaker than oursleves.. and most of all, do you trust the snow leopard?"
Basilisk moved in and sat down as he listened to what the 2 had to say.

Sefu wasn't in much of a mood to talk about whether or not Karensha should stay. It didn't seem like he should be one to vote in the group since he hasn't been there for too long. Seeing that the other lion cam, he saw his way out of the vote.
"Well, if this is going to become a vote, then I should probably just let you three vote. Having an even number of people decide on something will get you no where."
Saying that, he turned away and walked over to where the snake was at. She seemed relax, but was watching the group talking to eachother. He didn't want to be within her stiking distance but thought she wouldn't be foolish enough to try biting someone so soon.
"So what brings you here snake?" Sefu asked with a relaxed look in his face, "You come here to relax or do you have some business with the leopard like the lion did."

Jabari stood there waiting to hear from them, but when Sefu just got up and walked off, the cheetahs' whiskers twitched.. Feeling annoyance he turned and started to follow the lion, but paused and looked over his shoulder at Basilisk.
"Well if he's going to walk away, we will follow and take our vote to him.. come on."
Moving ahead again, Jabari came to a standstill beside Sefu and interupted his talk with the snake. Making sure he left plenty of room between him and the reptile and his back wasnt turned against it, the cheetah spoke once again to the lion.
"you are here amongst us now, you need to decide what should be done, walking off isn't good enough."
