Thunder cracked in the sky, lightning flashed across the heavens and rain pelted down on to the earth, beating down on everything below the clouds. The wind screamed through the trees as twigs and leaves fell with the rain. Streams splashed through random areas of the forest, bringing the deluge of precipitation wherever it may. All the while, animals scattered, looking for shelter.
Usawa scrambled over an under branches and rocks, trying to find a dry place. It was dark and every time a streak of lightning flashed, Usawas eyes had to take a moment to get adjusted to the darkness. Frantically, he searched for a big, low hanging leaf, a hollowed out log or a hole in the ground he could get under to shield himself from the torrential rain. Suddenly, the lion cub came to a clearing only about twenty meters wide. There was lush grass on either side of a shallow stream which ran straight out of the base of a cliff that rose about 50 meters above the ground. There was a huge boulder in the cliff that the water seemed to run out from underneath.
Usawa sensed that there was empty space behind the boulder. Yes! He thought. A cave! Perfect! His eyes glowed faintly green as he ran up to the boulder. The huge slab of stone shifted and the little cub jumped at it, landing all for paws on its surface and pushed it away. The boulder bounced and rolled violently into the forrest and Usawa landed expertly on his paws at the entrance of the cave. Wasting no time, he dashed into the cave, relieved to finally be dry.

Unlike so many other creatures, Kyrlla enjoyed the rain. As the first droplets had began to fall, she had simply blended with one of the trees. It stood upon a cliff, overlooking the small clearing the catterfly had found earlier that day. The tree was old and sturdy, its roods reaching far below the ground and thus despite its location so close to the cliff's edge, it was the most secure hiding place for the small critter that would otherwise be blown away in the wind.
It was then that she became aware or a sudden pressure on one of the tree's roots, and she pondered what that meant. Shifting her conciousness to investigate the matter, she discovered a small cave directly below the tree. Some of the roots had dug a hole and sprouted out in the empty space, and some held the large boulder hiding the cave in place.
The catterfly, had she had a face, would have frowned, for the pressure she had just felt came from the roots holding said boulder. Uncertain of what it meant, she shifted and emerged from the tree's roots at the back of the cave. She was glad she did, for the next moment the boulder suddenly came loose, revealing the sight of the rainy clearing.
Kyrlla, however, had no time to ponder what had happened when a small cub suddenly dashed inside. The catterfly's eyes widened and she instinctively backed further away in the cave in an attempt to hide, forgetting completely that she could have simply blended back to the tree and that there was a high possibility that the cub would notice her faintly glowing wings.

The first thing Usawa did when he got into the cave was sit still and shut his eyes. In a flash like an explosion extending out from his body, he could suddenly see everything. His eyes would take some time to get used to the darkness of the cave but in his mind, he could see the rocks inside the cave, the roots hanging down from the ceiling, even the stones in the dirt beyond the walls of the cave.
With his eyes still shut, Usawa stood back up and walked around the cave. Sometimes, he enjoyed using his density sense rather than his eyes. He could see behind trees, under the water, under the ground and up above him at all times. Everything had weight so if it was within the range of his density sense, he knew what and where it was.
As he marched further back into the cave, he noticed something very light. It was about his size but unbelievably light. He almost wrote it off as a pile of leaves but it moved. His reflexes told him to react and his eyes opened and immediately turned red. Whatever it was, he wanted to make sure it stayed in one spot until he got to it. As he concentrated, Usawa made the thing heavier so that it couldn't move. The cub climbed over a pile of large rocks to find some kind of feline creature with butterfly wings. Earlier, if Usawas sense was right, and it was always right, she hardly weighed as much as a few feathers. Now, under Usawas power, she weighed just enough that she had difficulty moving.
It was obvious that she wasn't a threat but Usawa was so confused by her appearance and the fact that she weighed less than most birds that he never thought to release her.

Kyrlla had moved further away from the cub and couldn't see him any more, hoping that the pile of rocks now between them would prevent him from seeing her faintly glowing wings and thus noticing her. What she didn't take into account, however, was that the cub might have other means of sensing her. And so, when her body weight suddenly multiplied far beyond what was normal for her, she released a small, distressed whimper and collapsed where she was. She had never felt anything like this before, and for that reason she now was unable to even get back on her feet.
The catterfly's gaze flicked around frantically as she tried to determine what had caused the sudden increase in her weight when she caught movement from the top of the pile of rocks. Her gaze turned there and she came face to face with the same lion cub that had just dashed inside the cave a few moments ago. Was he the cause of her current predicament? If so, why would he do such a thing? She was harmless! The only reason she was in this cave was the sudden pressure she had sensed on the roots, she had merely wanted to investigate and find out why her tree had been hurt.
Wait, why was he looking at her like she had grown a second head?
Kyrlla's eyes widened slightly when she realized that she was most likely the first of her kind that he had ever seen. It was then that she realized she could've avoided this problem if she had only blended back to her tree, but right now that was impossible since she couldn't reach any of the roots. Narrowing her eyes slightly she gave a scolding look at the cub.
"It's not polite to stare."

"It's not polite to stare."
Usawas eyes immediately returned to their normal color as he dropped his focus on her, leaving her back to her normal weight. "Oh! Uh... Sorry." He began. "I didn't know what you were and I was curious." Suddenly, Usawa realized that even though he had now seen her, he still didn't know what she was. "Wait. So... What are you?" He said as he climbed down the rocks toward her. He sat down in front of her and tilted his head inquisitively.

The cub's eyes turned from red to brown, and in an instant Kyrlla felt normal again. She lifted herself up with a small flap of her wings, making sure everything was indeed back like it should be. Satisfied, she nodded slightly as the cub apologised, understanding now that he had indeed been the cause of her distress.
What an interesting power he had...
"Wait. So... What are you?"
Kyrlla chuckled lightly. "A catterfly", she answered simply, as if that would explain everything. Realizing it might just raise more questions, she frowned thoughtfully.
"My kind is somewhat scarce, I think. I don't actually know, we hibernate."
She thought back, her frown deepening as she tried to remember the last time she had seen another of her species. She came to the conclusion she couldn't, and with a slight shrug her frown vanished.
"So, I suppose introductions are in order, no?" the catterfly said with a small smile. "I'm Kyrlla."

(I apologize for the long pause. Iv been kinda busy and really stressed recently. Ill try to post more often.)
A catterfly.
Usawas face expressed even more confusion but as Kyrla explained, he grew in curiosity.
She first introduced herself and then the cub smiled and introduced himself. "Im Usawa. Its nice to meet you!" He was so excited to have made a friend. Even more so because she was such a unique creature. Though he himself could probably be considered a unique creature as well. There werent many lions with abilities like his.
"So. Quick question. I havent had any luck asking around so far but... Have you ever heard of the floating mountains?" The cub bit his lip in anticipation of Kyrllas answer.

((That's fine. :3 I've been a bit busy with stuff myself, so no worries.))
Kyrlla smiled at Usawa when he introduced himself. It was nice to speak with someone again, and she didn't even mind if her new acquaintance was a cub, not with her sometimes childish nature.
"Have you ever heard of the floating mountains?"
"The floating mountains..." Kyrlla tested the word, her eyebrows furrowing in thought. The term felt vaguely familiar, but where had she heard it before? She was silent for quite a while, thinking back in time as she tried to figure out where she had heard of those mountains before. She thought back as far as she could, which was barely some months. That was when she had awoken from her hibernation, and for once she cursed her inability to remember anything beyond her awakening.
She huffed in frustration and shook her head, her expression apologetic.
"It sounds familiar", she started carefully. "However, I seem incapable of remembering exactly where or from whom I heard of them."

Usawa was excited by Kyrllas response. She was the first to give him an answer that wasn't a definite "no".
"Really?" He asked excitedly. "So there is a chance they exist? That's great! I'v been looking for them for a long time. I figure I have some kind of connection to them because of my powers. So I'v been looking for them."

Kyrlla lifted an eyebrow at Usawa's response, not certain what to make of it. He was so excited, even though she had given him a very vague answer. However, she didn't want to point out to him that she was in no way certain if the mountains were real. No need to crush his dreams if he had been looking for these mountains for such a long time, right?
Besides, she was curious now. She wanted to know where she had heard of the floating mountains before.
"Tell you what", she started, smiling slightly. "If you want, I could come with you. You made me curious, and maybe if we find out something new I'll remember why the mountains sound so familiar."

Usawas eyes lit up at her response. He had never had a traveling companion before. This could be fun!
"Deal!" He said with a huge grin. "Lets go!" Usawa quickly padded outside the cave where it was raining and quickly turned around and scampered back inside. "Oh yeah. It's raining." He said with a sheepish grin. He then turned around and looked outside. He liked watching the rain. After a few seconds, the cub had an idea. His eyes turned green and the raindrops began falling slower until they were suspended in the air. Thousands of little beads of water floated in mid air. Every moment that passed by, more beads of rain joined the rest and paused, making it look like time itself had stopped. Usawa walked out to the middle of the small clearing where he looked around at all the beads of water. He turned back to Kyrla and smiled. "Isn't this awesome? I can't believe it worked!"

"Deal! Lets go!"
Kyrlla giggled quietly when Usawa, suddenly excited with her suggestion to come with him on his hunt for the mountains, simply padded outside, only to rush back in when he realized it was still raining. Her giggles grew a little louder when she caught his sheepish grin. As she glanced outside, however, her giggles stopped abruptly and her eyes widened in amazement. Hundreds - no, thousands - drops of water were suspended in air.
Her mind barely registered how her feet carried her outside. She could still feel the sound of falling water, except that every droplet on the small clearing was seemingly frozen in time. It was a strange sight, yet the catterfly had never seen anything quite so beautiful before, not that she remembered anyway. Lifting a paw, she gently poked one of the droplets, only to have it vanish and soak her fur upon contact, just like any normal drop of water would do.
"Isn't this awesome? I can't believe it worked!"
Kyrlla lowered her paw and turned her gaze from the droplets back to Usawa. She was smiling again, though the look in her eyes was still somewhat awed.
"It's beautiful", she answered simply. "I only wish that... that... huh..."
She trailed off when a strange mixture of realization and thoughtfulness crossed her face, only to be replaced a few moments after with a wide grin and eyes that shone with excitement. Without another word the catterfly pounced upwards, flapping her colourful wings until she was hovering high above the ground in the centre of the clearing. Her gaze swept over the sight of the suspended water, only to return once again to the cub on the ground below.
"You might want to shield your eyes for a moment."
It was the only warning she gave, for the next moment her faintly sparkling wings began to glow. At first it was faint, for she had no wish to blind herself or her new friend with her light. The glow became brighter, however, at first slowly then more rapidly, until the catterfly's figure was nearly impossible to see due to the blinding shine of her wings.
"Oh! Usawa, look!"
Kyrlla stared all around her, her large eyes shining with wonder at the colourful scenery. The clearing had been painted with rainbow hues as the light of her wings was dispersed by the unmoving droplets of water. Her heart soared at the even more beautiful sight, and she was truly happy she had thought of this. It was something she would never have tried had the rain been falling normally, for flight in rain was not easy with her fragile butterfly wings.
Grinning smugly, the catterfly's eyes drank the view, committing every detail to her memory, and she spoke the words that had previously trailed off. "Now this is something I never want to forget."
