"So tell me, what are these new powers you have?"
Tearia smiled mysteriously. "If you watch me perform today, you'll see one of them. Trust me, it looks better than it sounds like when I try to explain it."
Then her smile changed into a slightly more mischievous one. She put her unfinished flute down to the ground along side with her knife as she stood up.
"Try to throw a rock at me", she suggested with a grin. "I can show you what else I can do."

"If you watch me perform today, you'll see one of them. Trust me, it looks better than it sounds like when I try to explain it."
Vukasin was very interested now. A bunch of ideas about what it might be went through his mind, but he stopped those thoughts and decided he would have to wait and see.
"Try to throw a rock at me. I can show you what else I can do."
"Thats an... odd request, but okay."
Vukasin looked down at the ground and spotted a small round rock. It was big enough that it would cause a considerable amount of damage if hit by it, but not enough to kill someone.
"I hope you know what you're doing." He said before he hurled the rock towards Tearia.

Tearia laughed slightly at Vukasin's words. She knew it was a strange thing to ask, but she was confident that she would be fine - a point which she proved right when the rock was about to hit her.
She jumped, and it wasn't a small jump either. In fact, she shouldn't have been able to jump so high. The rock missed, and she landed with a slight thud, grinning rather widely at Vukasin.

Vukasin watched Tearia as she jumped up high, avoiding the rock. He was impressed by the height she could jump to. She the landed in front of him and had a big grin on her face.
"I don't think you needed me to throw the rock at you. That jump is quite impressive though. I can think of many situations where that would be helpful. Is there other things you can do?"

"Yep", Tearia said with a laugh. "I saw you throw the rock before you did it. It's a bit confusing, but think of it like heightened reflexes."
She sat back down and resumed to work on her flute.
"It's difficult to hit me, but I can't dodge everything. It always depends on the speed of the attack. I can sort of see things happening before they do, and it does help to reduce the damage even if I'm not quick enough to dodge."

The way it worked confused Vukasin, but he got the main idea, which was that she had better-than-normal reflexes.
"It's difficult to hit me, but I can't dodge everything. It always depends on the speed of the attack. I can sort of see things happening before they do, and it does help to reduce the damage even if I'm not quick enough to dodge."
"That is also quite helpful. You could do incredibly well in a fight with those powers I think."

Tearia shrugged with a grin. "They have saved my skin a couple of times. Someone tried to shoot arrows at me once when I was 'sniffing around' as a raven. To say that they were 'frustrated' would be an understatement."
She lifted her flute up again, and blew some dust off of it. She had managed to carve it out roughly, and the next step would be to try if it played a sound. She blew to it, and cringed at the screech it let out. Clearly it needed a bit more work before it could be called an instrument.

"Lucky you had the powers then. Odd that he'd get as frustrated as you say he did just because he missed you though."
Tearia blew into her roughly done flute and produced a horrible screeching sound.
"I didn't know such a sound could be made." Vukasin stated as he unplugged his ears.

"I didn't know such a sound could be made."
Tearia cringed again. "Sorry about that... At least it makes a sound. If it didn't, I would most likely need to start over. All I need to do now is fine-tuning."
She dug out some more tools from her bags. It seemed that they were for smoothing out any rough edges from the hole inside the flute.
"Anyway, that guy who thought I'd make a good practice target..." She grinned mischievously as she continued her story. "It... might have had something to do with it that I stole his dinner while I was 'sniffing around'. It was a fine rabbit too, roasted just enough over the fire... Not to mention that he had been in the process of cutting it and his dagger was still attached to it when I swooped down and took it with me."

"I didn't know you were the snatcher type." Vukasin said, still chuckling at her story.
"I wonder how people would react to a wolf jumping through their window and stealing their dinner..."

"I didn't know you were the snatcher type."
"Only when I have to", Tearia replied.
"I wonder how people would react to a wolf jumping through their window and stealing their dinner..."
She found the mental image of that situation very amusing. The expressions would no doubt be priceless.
"That'd be something to see", she said with a laugh. "But I doubt they'd be very happy about it. And we don't want you to become someone's fur coat, do we?"

"I could keep my barrier on while I go in and get the food and come back out. Though, I would have to take it off for a second so that I could pick up the food. I'd have to be quick about it."
Vukasin's thoughts went back to Tearia's task from before. He wondered what things were like there now that "master" had been killed. Perhaps someone who was a bit fairer owned the mine now.
"What do you think is going on at the mines now that "master" is dead?"

"What do you think is going on at the mines now that "master" is dead?"
Tearia was silent for a while, recalling what little she knew.
"I mentioned that I visited Daishtan a few times", she said. She lifted the flute again and blew to it. This time it didn't screech, but it was clearly out of tune.
"I don't know who's in charge now. I think the mine officers might have taken over... Unless it fell to the 'master's' relatives... Or was sold."
She sighed with a grim expression.
"But the mines are still there - as are the slaves. They tightened their surveillance after we escaped, and by the looks of it, it certainly didn't help their life in there."

"So we escaped and then because of that, things get worse for everyone else..."
A frown fell upon Vukasin's face and he let out a deep sigh.
"I feel like we should help them somehow. I feel like we owe them."

"It does seem so", Tearia agreed with a sigh.
"I feel like we should help them somehow. I feel like we owe them."
She blinked, her eyes widening slightly. She had never thought of that, but now that the idea had been mentioned...
"It is... tempting..." she said thoughtfully. "I must admit I didn't really like seeing all of them still there. And to think how many of them are there simply because they were in the wrong place at the wrong time."
She shook her head. "If we do try to help them though, we need to think of how to do it. I don't think either of us is particularly fond of getting killed in the process."

"Well, you've been to the mines a couple of times, and you could go back again. You could find out a lot of things by watching, like when the guards switch and how long their shifts are. You could see how many guards we'd be dealing with, and how many slaves there are. You'd also be able to find alternate routes through the mines."
Vukasin leaned back again. He really wanted to help out the other slaves, but he didn't know if just the two of them would be able to pull it off, but if they could they would need a pretty solid plan.

Tearia pondered Vukasin's words, then nodded.
"All right, I'll do some scouting then. We might want to get some supplies ready before we head towards Daishtan. I don't think it'd be wise for us to show our faces on the streets."
She frowned.
"I don't really think we can do much else before we know more of the situation in the mines. Escape plans and the sort kind of depend on what we can find out."

"Well, after your performance or when you're ready, we could head towards the mines and find a place near it where we can camp for a while. Somewhere where they won't see smoke from fires or anything. I'll write down the information you bring each time you come back from the mines, and we'll take a few days to make some sort of plan."
This was definitely what Vukasin had been looking for. It was something out of the normal routine which was just what he needed right now.

"Ok then. I'll wait and see how many people there will be in the inn later today, and hopefully get some money. We can use it for the supplies later on."
She thought for a while. This whole thing was very risky, but it definitely gave both of them something to do. Not to mention the story she'd get out of this... With a little editing here and there, it would become a usable addition to the occasional storytelling that she did.
"There are a few smaller villages on the other side of the mountains, closer to Daishtan. I'd say it's safe to get the supplies from there. Besides, it's easier than dragging them over the mountains."

"Alright, sounds good."
Vukasin was happy that they had decided to free the slaves from the mine so quickly. It was something that crossed his mind every once and a while, but he wouldn't have been able to do it alone, so he just pushed the thoughts aside.
"What supplies do you think we'll need, exactly?"
