So, there was some discussion about a role play in the chat box… Here’s what me, Blaq and Epps came up with so far.
Basics:
This role play takes place in a medieval type of setting. The races in this world are humans, elves, anthro-type characters, shape-changers and dragons (more of them later).
The Story:
Under the command of the rightful ruler of New Westminster, king Enrod III, life in Warinia was peaceful. The lands flourished, as did its people. Poverty was minimal, and there was always food for even the poorest ones to eat.
However, the time of peace has now ended as king Enrod was overthrown and executed. The new king appeared out of nowhere, and somehow managed to gather an army without alerting anyone. He now sits upon New Westminster’s throne, and rules the lands with an iron fist. No one seems to know who he is, or where he came from. With even dragons on his side, he seems as unmoveable as the mountain his newly claimed castle is built on.
There is one thing he fears though… Upon assaulting and claiming New Westminster’s castle, his assassins failed to murder king Enrod’s only child. She is on the run now, trying to hide from prying eyes as she attempts to seek help for regaining her father’s throne and kingdom.
Whether or not she will succeed is completely up to you.
Environment:

The world is called Warinia, and its capital is New Westminster. The capital was originally a castle built on top of a mountain, but later on a large city formed around it. The capital has been renamed several times in the past, hence why its name is different from most of the other locations.
The capital is located in the middle of grass plains. These plains have random forests, rivers and lakes scattered all around it. This means that the ones you see in the map are not the only rivers, lakes and forests. They are there as guidelines to give some idea of what the environment looks like.
There is one major river flowing across The Plains – River Warinia. Its roots are at the northern mountains, and it flows into the eastern sea. River Warinia has waterfalls where it runs across the small, nameless mountain range in the middle of Warinia.
The mountains at the north are called Draegen Mountains, and they form the northern border of Warinia. In the east there is the Endless Sea, which is the eastern border of the kingdom. The Darotia Desert in the west marks the western border, while the large Valowira Forest is the southern border.
There are a few villages worth mentioning in Warinia. Daishtan is located next to the desert, and is pretty far away from everything. Kelast is northwest from the capital, right next to River Warinia. Bassas is the closest village to the capital, located right below the waterfalls of River Warinia. Sondista and Ythus are major ports. Ythus more so since they chop down wood from Valowira Forest and transport it around through water. Snowtops at the north is a fairly new settlement, hence its different name. Valowira is an elven city in Valowira Forest.
Races:
As mentioned before, there are five main types of races.
Humans:
I suppose I don’t need to describe this much, do I? They are spread everywhere through out the kingdom.
Anthros:
Basically, they are animals that walk on two feet, have hands and wear clothes. This can cover quite a bit of various mythical creatures (anything with half a human’s body that usually is pictured with two feet, such as minotaurs or harpies, as an example). They too, like humans, are spread quite far around the lands. (Note that if there is, as an example, a snake anthro, it is possible to make it without feet, as snake doesn’t really have any feet).
Shape-changers:
They appear to be human, but have the ability to take the shape of an animal. A shape-changer can change only to one type of animal. This means they can’t take whatever form they wish. Each of them has only one animal form they can assume. They as well are spread far around the lands, and find it easier to blend in with others than the anthros or elves.
Elves:
Elves generally appear more fragile than humans. They have pointy ears, and their eyesight is far better than that of a human. They can move very silently when they wish, making them good scouts and spies. They are masters with bow, though using a blade is not unfamiliar to them either. Elves live longer than humans, and have centred in the Valowira Forest. However, in some occasions they can be seen roaming elsewhere too.
Dragons:
They have the longest lifespan from the five races. There are many kinds of dragons – some with wings, some wingless, some that breathe fire, and some that live underwater. With dragons, imagination really is the only limit. Some of the dragons have joined the new king’s army, each usually having their own, personal agenda. Some of the dragons still haven’t aligned themselves with anyone. These dragons either live alone, scattered wherever they can’t be easily found, or in small groups. Reports tell that these dragon groups have been seen around the Draegen Mountains.
Magic:
To fit into the current rules (and to keep it under control), magic will be considered the same as each individual character’s abilities. Lets say character A knows how to control fire and water, and how to teleport, while character B knows how to control fire and heal. In this role play, A would be able to cast fire and water magic, as well as teleportation spells, and nothing else. While character B can also cast fire magic, and has the ability to cast healing spells, and again nothing else.
In this role play, not every character has to be able to control magic. It gives a more interesting setting when there are some mages scattered around the normal people.
Groups:
Followers:
This is possibly the most visible group, and they are the villains. On other words they are the new king’s loyal followers. Only selected few will get into this group, as the king’s army is already large. If you are invited to join them, however, you must accept the invitation. If you do not, you will be doomed into slavery.
The Rebels:
There might be various rebel groups scattered around, or there might be none. Someone is always opposing the new king, but it’s a different matter to do so openly. If you are a rebel, and get caught by the followers, you will be brought to the king and doomed, either to slavery or – more usually – to death.
Slaves:
These are the people that do all the hardest labour for the followers. It’s a true curse to become a slave, as there doesn’t seem to be any way to escape.
Normal folks:
These are the normal people, the group between the slaves and the followers. They take various occupations, working as shopkeepers, merchants, or even performers. They can be normal town folk, nobility, or wanderers. The followers keep a close eye on everyone who falls under this category. They look for new recruits – if a suitable candidate rises up – as well as anyone that could be marked as a rebel.
Mercenaries:
Yes, there just has to be a group of these fellows too. They are kind of like normal folks, except they work – for the one who has the most money. Mercenaries have different personal rules. Some might work for the one that pays them first, but some might change their alignment if the opposing side just offers more.
Other notes:
Well… Not much else to be said really. That pretty much covers everything. Most of the names for the map were created with this useful name generator: www.rinkworks.com/namegen/
I would like to take the role of the former king’s daughter, as well as at least one other character. So I suppose I’ll try and keep the poor girl hidden from everyone. XD
This role play has potential for multiple threads. I think it would make it easier to keep track of what is going on in which location, since there are quite a few different places.
We came to the conclusion that, at least for now, the new king should remain as a NPC. He isn’t a major character at this point, so there’s no need for anyone specific to play him. Also, for now you don’t know anything about him. He wears heavy armour, a scary helmet, a robe and carries a big sword. Everything else about him is pretty much unknown. We don’t know the race, though assumption is he’s a human, and we don’t really even know if he’s a male, though we suppose he is. Lets just call him the King for now.
So... The initial goal is to rally up a group of rebels, and lead them into an epic battle against the king’s forces. No idea how long that will take, but then again it shouldn’t really even matter as long as we have fun.
Also... If you have suggestions for the name, feel free to shoot them cos I have NO IDEA! XD
